TD27

Postby grazer » October 20th, 2006, 8:51 am

Oye Fellas,
I have a Terrano with a TD27 & tranny. On mornings it runs great, but once the temp hits half by lunch time onwards it gets very sluggish. Worse yet when i put on the AC.....any suggestions?
I just changed oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter and ran an amsoil treatment, but no significant difference....can it be another problem like rings, compression etc????

Thanks...
I replaced coolant recently, in traffic it normally runs at half, but hardly every exceeds that unless I'm pushing it. Also i'm getting approx 350km to $60.00?!? is this normal as i find its excessive fuel comsumption.

Thanks all....will service the fuel pump and get the thermostat checked.
Recently I ran an Amsoil Diesel fuel additive concentrate directly to the fuel pump and ran it for 20 mins. made a difference, but still lacks power. ( it would not be a tranny problem causing this..right?)
What kind of mileage do you guys get with your diesel engines and what size is it?
How long does it take to get you from 0 - 80 kmh?
Should I switch to the TD27 Turbo engine with my transmission?

That doesn't sound like transmission.

I've got a thirsty 1kz-te 3.0ltd and get approximately 400km per 48 litres. i.e $72.00. So your gas consumption doesn't sound too bad.

Have you gotten a qualified diesel mechanic to check this ?

Let us know.

fuel consumption ain't bad buddy...

Zh@ne, $40 can't last whole week pal... unless the vehicle making short runs

sounds interesting... something is causing the vehicle to lose power...

what's the mileage? if i may ask..

If you're pushing your vehicle and the temperature increases then you have a thermostat problem. Probably sticking. Sort that out soon cause your themostat might freeze in the closed position and then you ain't gonna get any cooling at all!

hey equipped2ripp this is an engine recently bought foreign used, so mileage is unknown.

oye bleedingfreak the thermostat has been removed.

I did a time check yesterday and it takes me just under 20 secs to get from 0 to 80km..is this good for a non turbo diesel engine in a realitively heavy 4x4?

Hey Booga, stick to your gas engine sr turbo sj410 forum nah dred.....

My Buddy terrano hits around 400 to 420km on a $60-70. Take off is another story, slow even for a turbo...
