Postby kingkongcrew » December 12th, 2024, 2:49 pm

Hi, non car person here. Just looking for advice on the market of vehicles today on both new local, foreign used and foreign new. This forum seems to be the most active on the site which is why i decided to post here.
what car in terms of parts availability, reliability would be the best long term car investment for a family of 4.
my budget is 100,000 - $150,000

You made a mistake posting this in ole talk...expect alot of trolling.

My only recommendation is to stick to ICE for long term. I saw TTTL in Barataria and Sando was selling a few ultra low mileage local used Corollas for good prices. That's a good option if any are still available. A previous gen, local used, Corolla should be in budget, I think that's the NZE161.

TTTL also has a pretty good pre-owned section (no, I don't work for Toyota). Keep an eye out for Facebook ads from them. They don't take any and every car to sell so they tend to have some decent, well maintained cars up for sale.

A low mileage 10th gen Civic is another good option that should be in your budget.

+1 Local used corolla. Look for low mileage, single owner with clean maintenance history.
Get a solid GPS (air support or carsearch).

Q: What's a good car?
A: Any car that you can afford to maintain properly.

What you want to look at are things like the price of parts that will need changing eventually, and a few that may not (ignition, suspension, steering, engine transmission, etc), cost of insurance, likelihood of theft, etc.
Then look at your finances and ask yourself two questions
Can I see myself driving this thing on a regular basis?
Can I afford to maintain this thing properly?

If either question yields a negative answer, that particular vehicle ain't for you.

Best of luck to you
