So Tobago is a hotspot now?

Postby aaron17 » May 15th, 2023, 8:56 pm

Soo nothing for trinidad?

Soldiers for crime patrols in Tobago

THE Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) will begin joint patrols in Tobago on Tuesday.
This is in response to the six murders recorded on the island for the year so far.
Joint patrols will include a platoon of soldiers from Trinidad.

The 30 soldiers will team up with soldiers already on the island as well as police officers.

This was confirmed yesterday by Assistant Commissioner of Police Collis Hazel in a brief interview with the Express.

Last week, during a news conference in Tobago, he said gang members from Trinidad travelled to Tobago and were causing “havoc” for residents.

He said the joint army/police patrols will consist of two teams which will each be led by an inspector.

He would not say which areas the troops would be operating in, citing security concerns.

Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Farley Augustine at the news conference last week voiced his support for the initiative and promised four vehicles and well as accommodation for the soldiers during their tour.

On Tuesday Tobago recorded its sixth murder with the shooting death of Hakeem Thomas from Mt Pleasant. He was shot dead during a drive-by.

There were ten murders in Tobago in 2022.

The knife to the kidneys serves to disable the victim. A stabbed victim will not be able to defend themselves with vigour. The knife to the throat is to finish them off.

Stabbing higher than the kidneys poses a risk of the blade getting stuck between ribs, which is why you come in low in an upward angle, twist the blade when drawing back, then stab deep under the ear and push the blade forward to rip through the carotid.

Trinibad artiste granted $1m bail for Speyside shooting

Tobago Trinibad artist Kalonji Arthur has been granted $1 million bail, after appearing virtually before Master Magaret Sookraj Goswami on Thursday, May 16.

The 26-year-old of Goldsborough is facing six charges related to a drive-by shooting in Speyside on May 4, which left six people injured.

The charges range from wounding with intent, shooting with intent, and possession of firearms and ammunition.

The matter is scheduled for hearing on February 26, 2025.

The vehicle involved in the shooting belonged to murder victim Shonnel Walters-Joseph and was found abandoned near Delaford.

Walters-Joseph was laid to rest yesterday afternoon, a little over a week after she was found dead over a precipice at Saw Mill Trace, Mt St George.  Her body was discovered several hours after the Speyside shooting.

In as much as Hinds, Erla and the police have been totally ineffective, don't forget what also contributes to the sense of impunity these pests operate with, the judicial system is as rotten as the others. Of course we won't hear about that, since the judiciary is populated by a certain demographic and aligned with a certain celestial object.

Habit7 my brother. What going on in Tobago boy?

Ever since Tobagonians kicked out the PNM in December 2021, it seems as if the government has a vendetta against young Farley.

Talk to your gangster politicians and tell them to cool it nah. Never in the history of Tobago have we seen so many murders.

I wonder if PNM was still in control, if it would have been the same, at least in Tobago. If it was, they would have blamed Kamla.

So what you are saying is that after 22yrs of PNM controlling the THA, murders skyrocket in Tobago under a different govt.

Apply that same logic to Trinidad and get back to me.

The chief secretary is a member of the national security council?

Economist and Senior Policy Advisor Dr. Vanus James examines the reported increase in gun crimes in Tobago.

https://www.tv6tnt.com/news/7pmnews/crime-woes-in-tobago/article_96d939a0-3f2b-11ef-9a81-e3734d4ac241.html

Summary: the rise of gangs and crime is largely due to the failure of the government to transform the national economy in how many years they are in power now. The way some people or organizations are finding to make money is through criminality.

Lack of accessible forex and excessive taxation is a big issue in non-stimulation of the economy.
The whole "band yuh belly" lie and "tax them harder" school of thought by the not-actually-an-economist in charge.

they are likely to get a fresh mandate with more than 50% of the seats but less of the popular vote - so nothing will change
