You ever see some of the vehicles some teachers driving?

Me, i would be grateful for that $200.

Max,

Take a good look at the vehicles the politicians driving , teachers work much harder than they do that's for sure. I fail to see the point you trying to make here man.

Easy solution, get another job if you don't like the one you have.
This culture of entitlement is what has poor people poor.Gimme gimme gimme.
Simple economics. When the supply of teachers is low, demand will increase and wages will go up.But in the meantime, we have an oversaturated market of teachers that gt because of nepotism that don't show up to work half the time and demand that they should be paid more?
Make it make sense.

It's usually the ones that are not productive, barely at their work, show up late and leave early are the ones most vocal about all these increases. I say tell them to HYMC.

Any public service employees in here knows the true state of the economy? We already know that the government officials don't provide an accurate picture.

Fail to see your point, doctors, nurses , police , immigration don't work hard , their standard of living not affected you want ppl to give 100 percent on a 2013 salary. No sir , you will get 2013 pace with 2013 pay simply as that. You have no idea the Level of BS public servants endure on a day to day basis because you are on the outside looking in from your close minded perspective

The only thing will placate the public servants is to see full on runaway inflation. Some how I think even then they will ask for more money

What I know:

TTUTA always does a walkout on the day just before, or just after, a holiday or a weekend.

Any weekend is a long weekend when you're a member of TTUTA.

Teachers should not be allowed to strike.

Why must our children suffer?

Many parents will be angry of what the teachers are doing here but if you look at it from a teacher side,it's unfair to be working in 2022 with a 2013 salary.

Sure, there is school tomorrow.

I see children at school in class on every TTUTA pop-up teacher's holiday.

I am not angry at the teachers. They have a right to demand fair compensation.

If you cared about iur children suffering, you would not permit the flooding of children from Venezuela into Trinidad.

I tell my neices and nephews that the vene children parents are criminals and do not associate with criminals

Parents ought to be angry, what sort of example are the greedy teachers setting for these children who they are in charge of while they are on the school compound? Teachers not only teach but also guide children in the right direction in other areas of life and these students looking at what teachers are doing here are only going to perpetuate it when they themselves become a working citizen of the country in the future.

That's fairly dumb. Greedy? Do you know what the average salary of a teacher 2 is?

Teachers are there to teach, not be babysitting.

Teachers are setting a great example. Don't let ppl take advantage of you. Stand up. Most employers mismanaged their finances and that's why they cry constantly when people stand up for their rights?

Don't mind him , he is a dumb@$$ basically what he is saying he will raise his children to settle for less and not their worth. Don't stand for anything just tow the line. Meet your targets and take whatever they pay you just be grateful that's the ideology we breeding here.

q for the teacher strike supporters --

what do you think is appropriate action for nurses, that have been shifted from permanent employment to temporary contracts, underpaid more than teachers, and in far worse working conditions?

what should they do

Yes it's greedy what these teachers and public servants are asking for, look at the current state of the economy not just in Trinidad but globally. Be grateful that you have a job to begin with and that you're even getting a raise on top of that too. As max would say "trini asses too happy"

That's for their union to take up, can't be meeting the same targets and continuing like business as usual if the entire body has a grievance. It has to be united front the permanent nurses along with the contract staff. Just one week without nurses sick out watch how quick change will occur. All the talk we not budging from 4 percent quickly turns because who will look bad, is the government going to look bad simply as that.

So be satisfied with garbage?

That's like telling a woman who gets pregnant from a rape to be grateful she got something out of it.

The CPO should give them an ultimatum, if you don't want the 4% then the offer will be gone at a certain point and you won't be getting anything. Look and see how much of these clowns going to be rushing to take the 4%, at least 4% better than 0%. Be grateful!

Jason,

How many citizens are working for far less than teachers and deserve higher wages but they still get the job done?

Based on a teacher’s important role in society, they should be making sacrifices for the betterment of our children. The teachers are not starving, they have homes, they have clothes, their families are not begging on the streets.

Get to work and do what you are being paid to do. If not, as many of us have said here, GET another job.

Btw, i am of FIRM belief that raising teachers salaries will not change their attitude. It all boils down to a mentality and culture issue.
