Member of Parliament arrested and charged

Postby hover11 » September 16th, 2022, 3:58 pm

BREAKING NEWS: David Lee arrested and charged with misbehavior in public office.

Allegedly defrauded the state one million dollars

https://guardian.co.tt/news/opposition- ... fd8324f32e

Another distraction as politicians don't make jail in this country

Didn't a certain former AG do something along these lines.... but "evidence" "appeared" to show otherwise? Lewwe be real, David going to win this case, PNm lawyers will eat a food and then David will come back and sue the state......win-win. The only losers are the taxpayers as usual...

No law saying you can't buy a car abroad and get the taxes written off as an MP.

Then again who owns the car? The MP or Gun dealer?

Banana Republic and chain up for those that follow the PNM

If the exemptions is a problem and open to fraud as PNM is insinuating then remove it but no they would never do such a thing that would be to their detriment

So the solution to using something improperly is to remove the said something?

its pretty obvious that this perk is being abused, most buy cars and sell/transfer the day after the stipulated time period has passed. they will sell to a padna for a little under market value but still make plenty as they saved taxes

Then change the law or privilege.

It's ok for PNM to do it but not ok for the opposition members?

What is sad is that PNM followers taking this chain up and you have those on tuner defending pnm actions on this

Double standard right through when PNM in power , do as I say not as I do, the epitome of dictatorship. Didn't Arsewari boast that a Porsche is equivalent to the price of a Toyota. Them fellas seeking their own benefits but vex when UNC doing the same.

Law said two years, I don't see how it is abuse or wrong.

Law said 2 years, if the pnm don't like it then change the law .

Done the whole thing and cut the perk because it is causing too much controversy, for national interests and due to the present state of the economy we cannot allow all this leakage of tax dollars used up in tax exemptions easy as that. Something imbert would say if he himself wasn't benefiting from such.

Not illegal means the state has no case and a waste of time.

If abused from the MPs on all sides , Judges, government officials ect then change the law.

Its OK for PNM officials to do it, then they play on minds of their followers that it is wrong for the opposition.

The pnm and the media would have gotten the latest certified copy and blasted it, but no mention of that.

Could be a third-party gave him the cash up front for purchase with intentions of transfer after the two years. For Lee to do this he has tobe super dumb and should have taken examples on how the pnm does it.

Should be once every five years for a vehicle tax exemption, because clearly every two years breeds corruption. Who changes vehicles every two years, a vehicle starts to go bad after five years of use.... the ppl not demanding better and as usual the politicians taking them for asses

Most companies cars are changed every two years. I believe the PM car is changed every two years.

Two years is the standard norm for executive positions.

Thats fine by companies that can afford to do such and making their own profits but the economy is not in a state to continue such .....we not making profits or large revenue streams like before. Every penny from tax dollars count at the moment and this certainly cannot continue.

Then it's up to PNM to change the law.

You can't have one law for pnm and another for the opposition.

I could see Lee winning the case if the vehicle hasn't been transferred, the argument would be it's my vehicle, who I choose to let drive it is my business, immoral isn't illegal and being charged is a legal issue not a moral one. I know people who gave MPs money to buy vehicles on their behalf through that same exemption for Prados and Range Rovers but it was while the said MPs were the party in office so no feathers ruffled
