Several parts of the country are currently without electricity.

Speaking with Guardian Media news a short while ago, T&TEC General Manager Kelvin Ramsook confirms that thirty per cent of the country has no electricity.

Ramsook explains that there's an issue with one of the towers that supply the Union-Ghandi line. He assures that they are investigating.

So far, we have reports of outages across the country.

These areas include Curepe, Diego Martin, Penal, Macoya, Malabar, Chin Chin, and Piparo.

Ramsook says power should be restored within a few minutes to most places, but at the latest by 10 pm in others.

Nah they could reroute in certain ways to bypass it, but could have some low voltage in areas when it come back.

That repair will be a serious piece of work though. New tower, dig foundation, concrete pour, new high KV lines, etc.

Not to mention getting in equipment there to dismantle since climbing is impossible. Could probably use back same foundation though.

Load shedding. This mean that areas not affected could still lose power?

Via TTEC

Update 9:00 p.m.

Additional capacity is being provided by the Independent Power Producers serving T&TEC and we anticipate within 2.5 hours, affected customers should be back on supply.

However load shedding may again be instituted in the early morning as use of electricity increases. Customers are asked to conserve electricity to assist in managing the available capacity.

9:00 PM Power Outage Update courtesy of T&TEC's Corp. Comms Manager Anabelle Brasnell:
- IPPs providing additional capacity
- 2.5 hours for restoration time (11:30 PM)
- Load shedding (more outages) possible tomorrow due to increased demand

Full Update:

"The other independent power providers (IPPs) are providing additional capacity to serve the customers who are currently affected by the outage, and we anticipate in approximately 2.5 hours those customers should be back on supply.

However, we should note that within the early morning, when the demand again increases and customers are using more electricity, we anticipate that we may need to once again institute load shedding to be able to manage the available electricity supply.

We ask customers to conserve electricity and reduce the usage of appliances that require large capacities, such as air conditioning units and water heaters. this will assist in managing the load."

Turn off the AC and use a Lasco till they fix this. That better than overloading the already compromised grid and then losing not just AC but all power including the Lasco fan.
