Update at 11:30 p.m.

We have successfully restored supply to the majority of customers affected by this outage, however we are experiencing some delays in getting all the generators online. As such, there is a delay in restoring supply to the remaining customers.

Engineers are working to complete the restoration process in the shortest possible time.

We apologize for the continued inconvenience that customers are experiencing.

Update at at 1:05 a.m

The public is advised that as at 1:05 a.m., with the exception of a small segment at St Lucien Rd and environs in Diego Martin, all customers who were impacted by the large area outage stemming from the failure of a critical 220 kV (220,000 volts) transmission tower in Rousillac are now back on supply.

Additional generators were brought on-line by the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to restore supply to the approximately 30% of the customers in Trinidad who were affected.

Rolling load shedding may be instituted in the early morning as the use of electricity increases. Customers are urged to conserve electricity to assist in managing the available capacity and reduce the number of forced outages. Avoiding the use of large appliances like air condition units and dryers would help with conservation.

T&TEC has completed a preliminary assessment of the site and infrastructural repairs are expected to commence early today ( Wednesday).

-END-

That repair will be a serious piece of work though. New tower, dig foundation, concrete pour, new high KV lines, etc.
How long so? They have towers like that in stock yo replace or retrofit?

Cauze the load shedding is an issue until rectified

Not to mention getting in equipment there to dismantle since climbing is impossible. Could probably use back same foundation though.

There is a solid road running along all those towers. Equipment had to get in there for installing them, they didn't fall from the sky. I used to drive the road for fun to see the towers and look at our infrastructure.

If i'm not mistaken the towers are bolt out, bolt in. And again, if i'm not mistaken they are assembled not transported as a whole. All of those towers were installed and at no point traffic experienced major disruptions from transport on the nations roadways.

Also, the towers are run in pairs where load is distributed evenly and there is capacity for one tower to pick up the load if its counter part is compromised. Each tower carries phases in pairs so there is phase 1, 2 and 3 on each side so even if one phase or all 3 phases fail the load is shift to the next side of the tower. Classic case is outside M3 point lisas, one phase offline and wrapped up on the tower near the main gate. The line is on the ground in the grass that goes to the next tower. I'm not sure if it has been repaired yet because its been so for a while.

Classic case of square pegs in round holes. People in charge don't know what they doing and neglect what needs to be done in the name of cost cutting or they simply don't care. Just collect salary from appointed post and ride when crap hits the fan.

Many a time it's the men on the ground that knows what needs to be done but cries fall on deaf ears.

Salary goes with the job and cost of living has increased significantly in recent times. Salary is an incentive to work so men maybe just saying eff it. As usual there are those that work and those that don't.

Issues surrounding reliability of electricity supplies has been going on for quite sometime.T&TEC in their public releases continue to inform circumstances for outages which suggest a weakness in their maintenance model.
Going back to Feb this year, I was not convinced that the explanation given provided any comfort or assurances that black-outs would be minimized.
The lost of productivity and other commercial consequences resulting from our present situation is quite significant.
