Dried corn, roasted and ground with sugar and spices mixed in. Done right, it just melts away on your tongue.

Something else that's missing is the whole parlour food situation. Longtime village parlours used to have sandwiches on sale for most of the day. Stew liver/gizzard, channa, chowmein. Sometimes you would have gotten coconut bake instead of hops.

I remember pulling up by one in Couva. Tanty say she giving me the special.
When I opened the wax paper it was Coconut bake, channa, buljol, couple slices of zaboca AND a onion choka thing. $6 and this was mid 2000s.

I think voortman made the original triple flavour pack, but no longer making it. Product changed as well as packaging.

My mother always buying Voortmans wafers. Never saw the three flavours in one pack but up to recently a grocery by us had a special with two pack of Voortmans wafers banded.

Who here remember Larjochow???

It was a thick mustardy fermented mild peppersauce that was ubiquitous in groceries in the eighties.

I really miss that, it used to go down good with home-made fried chicken.

Damn near every long running snack doh taste the same anymore cause of people with no self control and them ingredients that were more number than letter. Snacks had to go from overindulgent to health conscious.

Manufacturers are always going to be cutting cost on quality of ingredients that on the current market. It hardly have anything mass manufactured these days with the original formula that made the product great. Plus some of dem long time ingredients not exactly healthy or sustainable, so would be discontinued and substituted.
