So if it only affects imap and pop it will only affect u if u configured it in Outlook or some other app?

correct, the IMAP and POP servers seems to be under some issues.

Which app? I'm reading that some apps are being blocked by Gmail IMAP even older versions of Outlook.

^yea thats a thing too. gmail was turning off "less secure" third-party apps or something

For anyone else who is having issues using a 3rd party desktop application like outlook, thunderbird, etc. here is the fix.
Gmail has disabled less secure access and has opted for 2 step verification.

Log into Gmail via web and go to your account, under security make sure 2-step verification is enabled then go to app password and configure. You will be sent a password via what means you have chosen, copy and paste into Outlook when prompted for password authentication.
