From the get go, you have to say that the Ferraris are already looking really really strong.. How long can this go on for?!! Hopefully the entire season… what a start, what a race… well done Leclerc/Sainz…. Merc will take that result all day from the position they were in.

Will depend on how much leeway they have left for development.
Merc and RBR have strong track records of improving over the year, Ferrari doesn't.
Great season ahead :D

3 out of 4 red bull power units failed. Didn't seem to suffer to much last year when it was under the Honda name. I'm still speculating on the e10 fuel being problematic for them. Will have to wait and see in red bull says anything.

Really sad for McLaren... They appear to be the new back marker currently

Kmag is making that Haas move. Bottas is also doing pretty well in the alpha... Considering where both teams were last year.

Welcome to the 2022 season

Always knew Leclerc had the potential, just needed for the prancing pony to step up their game. Glad for KMag. Hard luck for Red Bull. Love Bottas to death but wanna know what caused that horrific start….with some luck and consistent driving, he managed to retain his starting position. Lewis putting on a brave face after but you can already sense his frustration…lots of sleepless nights ahead for both Mercedes and Red Bull! 2022 is already turning out to be unpredictably awesome!

Fuel pump which is constant and supplied to everyone by an Italian company. Seems multiple teams complained over the weekend. Gasly's retirement was unrelated.

Lol @ McL. Zak talks too much.

Gt4, I actually think Lewis looked happier than usual. Get a sense the pressure on his is finally off for the first time in awhile. Agreed about LeC - only driver I think can beat him on raw pace is Max.

I might be on to something with the fuel; not in the case of Gasly though

P1 and fastest lap for Leclerc, P2 for Sainz What a dream start! I feel really bad for RB though. Checo and Verstappen worked too hard to get zero points but..... Haas in third

I really hope RB works out their reliability issues but Merc seemed really far off their pace this race. Ferarri and RB teams were both over 30 seconds clear of Merc before the safety car. That's a hell of a gap to try to close up.

This race could potentially have massive impact coming down to the end for the constructors if it's between Ferrari and RB though.

nah, it's a long season
If anything years of watching F1 has taught me, is don't draw any conclusions from the first couple of races
Although I still say WDC will be KMag and Constructor WC will be Haas

Yeah and given the sweeping changes I think improvement might be more drastic this year as teams get more familiar with the new setup as opposed to the incremental improvements you see when everything figured out and they just trying to squeeze out that last 0.05%. But still... that merc deficit is not going to be easy to cover.

As epic as the Leclerc/ Max battle was... it looks like Leclerc was in full control. Looks like he stayed in 7th gear to let Max pass so he could get him back in the 2nd DRS zone where an overtake is more likely to stick.

Terror attack halts F1 practice at Saudi Arabian GP as dashcam footage shows smoke from missile strike on an oil refinery pouring across the track - with drivers holding urgent talks about CANCELLING the race

By RACHAEL BUNYAN FOR MAILONLINE

PUBLISHED: 16:01 GMT, 25 March 2022 | UPDATED: 21:30 GMT, 25 March 2022

Yemeni terrorists launched a missile strike on an oil depot just moments from where the world's best drivers were completing a practice session ahead of Sunday's Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

F1 stars Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc were forced to stop practice session at the Jeddah track when Iran-backed Houthis fired missles into the North Jeddah Bulk Plant, which is just 12 miles south-east of the circuit.

Black smoke from the explosion was seen at the F1 track behind Esteban Ocon's car during practice on Friday

Apparently those attacks happened during the red flag period in Practice 1.
Smoke is only visible in the sky line after practice is restarted

Visible as cars approach and go through the last hairpin before the start finish straight

Well the Saudis wouldn't take this lightly... wouldn't be surprised if they launch a few into Yemen just to remind them who they dealing with.

Checo deserved that pole. Long time coming. Ferrari/RB lockout in the front two rows again though. I wonder if this will become a trend.

Likely until merc gets their package sorted.
Helluva last sector from checo. Saw will said he was .3 behind at turn 17 and ended a tenth plus ahead.

Looks like Leclerc's DRS strategy catching on and making for some interesting battles. That lock up in the final corner with him an Verstappen was funny though.

I wouldn't say it was bad luck but rather a STUPID decision by the team to bring him in then. Came out of the pits behind russel and got held up. Even without the safety car LeClerc would've probably been able to pit after him and get out ahead. Can't believe RB fell for that BS radio call from ferrari.
