IMO all teams benefit sometimes and and lose out somtimes on incidents - that's racing

FIA blamed for costing Lewis Hamilton points in Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamiton was caught out by another FIA decision which stopped him getting more points in Saudi Arabia, according to David Coulthard. Coulthard has warned the FIA were a “little slow” to decide whether to throw a virtual safety car and close the pitlane after cars had broken down on the track.

Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso had both stopped on the slip road into the pits and race officials threw a virtual safety car moments later. However, the decison whether to neutralise the race and close the pit lane was confused with some teams capitalising and some missing out.

Nico Hulkenberg managed to stop just before the decision was made and it looked like Mercedes could also benefit. Hamilton’s engineers called him in but Hamilton had already passed the pit entrance.

“‘Are they going to close the pitlane, are they not?’ I think the FIA in fairness to Mercedes, were a little bit slow to make the decisions.

The sync was off on the live feed. LH was called in before the pitlane closed and told to see the situation when he reached the pitlane. The pitlane was open when he passed but because Ricciardo's car was being pushed in he chose not to pit.

I wouldn't say it was bad luck but rather a STUPID decision by the team to bring him in then. Came out of the pits behind russel and got held up. Even without the safety car LeClerc would've probably been able to pit after him and get out ahead. Can't believe RB fell for that BS radio call from ferrari.

It wasnt a BS call. Binotto said LeC would do whatever Perez didn't. Without the safety car, it would've been a brilliant move, as LeC would've likely undercut him. Russell was nip and tuck - 2.5s pit stop and theyd be in front

Clinical from Charles last night. RB has some issues to sort out. Real nice drive from Checo/Russell

Not sure what's going on with RB power units.
May very well have been two RB's on the podium
Merc fans should be happy with a podium from Russel and 4th from Hamilton - not as happy as they thought they'd be this season tho

It's a shame with redbull and their reliability problems but good to see such a quick return to form for merc and mclaren. It looks like SF really took advantage of the extra aero time they had over the past couple of years but merc is catching up with the race data they get from each weekend. Leclerc once again showing that he has got what it takes though.... I guess we will have to wait and see.

I think the issue with their power units is that they are occasionally unreliable and sometimes things go pop
Well that's the ful technical explanation. Not sure you can understand

Too much risk depending on a 2.5second pit stop. Charles was over a second behind and would've definitely come out behind George so I think it was a complete bluff by Ferrari and RB got caught.

Lol wasn't a bluff. It was on the team radio and both LeC and Binotto said after the order was do what Perez didn't, which is very common.

2nd RBPT fuel issue. All teams have had issues, RB's just happened in the race.

We still holding onto the hope that he will turn around his season. If things don’t improve with the Merc in the next couple races I’d say this season is a write off for him.

I meant that he's been beaten consistently by GR.
Seb was criticised relentlessly for the same

The Merc looks undrivable when Lewis is in it. It porpoises so much you'd swear Lewis neck would stretch like a pringles can.

The Miami GP has a super long straight. It's going to be torture for him.

Its not dissimilar for Ferrari, who arguably looks just as bad. Theyve just figured out a way to achieve performance while doing it.
The track looks great, just worried we'd see a bunch of DRS games again. Interested in seeing if Ferrari's engine upgrade would put them back on even keel with RBR

The race wasn't as bad as everyone was making it out to be.

The fake beach and marina didn't affect anything. The racing was OK but the last 7 laps should have had some more overtakes.

The whole race could have had more overtakes esp in the top 10

It's a car thing. With the relatively short drs zones, there's not enough of a slipstream effect on the straight cause of the ground effect design.

Max showing again he can overtake cleanly...almost as if the problem last yr wasnt him

RBR seem to have the one up on SF. Leclerc had no answer to Verstappen's straight line speed even with the DRS open but Verstappen seems able to keep up with Leclerc around the turns so I'm not too sure about SF's excuse about a higher downforce setting.
