At the age of 10 in October 1941, Obiedkova witnessed Nazi forces entering her native Mariupol and arresting her mother, who was among thousands of Jews executed on the city’s outskirts. SS soldiers later detained Obiedkova, but family friends managed to convince them that she was Greek.

“Mama loved Mariupol, she never wanted to leave,” Obiedkova’s daughter Larissa said after fleeing the city.

Larissa and her husband buried Obiedkova under nonstop shelling in a public park near the Sea of Azov.

Blind to dumb, unfounded conspiracy theories? Yes!
The IMF is the singular world lending organization that could squeeze Ukraine for $2 with the collusion of the US which has spent BILLIONS thus far, MOST of it being DONATED military hardware  Stick to anti vaxxing, at least you're accepted as an "expert" in that nonsense.

The U.S., meanwhile, moved to rush more weaponry to Ukraine and said the assistance from the Western allies is making a difference in the 2-month-old war.

“Russia is failing. Ukraine is succeeding,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared, a day after he and the U.S. secretary of defense made a bold visit to Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Blinken said Washington approved a $165 million sale of ammunition — non-U.S. ammo, mainly if not entirely for Ukraine’s Soviet-era weapons — and will also provide more than $300 million in financing to buy more supplies.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin took his comments further, saying that while the U.S. wants to see Ukraine remain a sovereign, democratic country, it also wants “to see Russia weakened to the point where it can’t do things like invade Ukraine.”

Austin’s comments about weakening Russia appeared to represent a shift in broader U.S. strategic goals. Previously, the U.S. position had been that the goal of American military aid was to help Ukraine win and to defend Ukraine’s NATO neighbors against Russian threats.

Is either the miscalculate how much America still needs fossil fuels and in the near future and made a bad deal for our country, or they made a good projection, and fossil will be in demand for a long time so sellers will keep earning and maintain their finances.

The US is a net exporter of LPG at about 2 million bpd.

Hopefully, and I say this knowing that these are the same morons who sank quarter of a billion dollars into Train 1  , that it is a hub that was already being used by some oil major to export LNG.

^ Ukraine receives a lot of their smaller drones as donations.
That move by DJI may affect Russia more than Ukraine but in any case Russia has indigenous production.

By the numbers: More than a dozen yachts, worth approximately $2.5 billion, belonging to Russian oligarchs have been seized in several countries worldwide since the armed conflict started, and more are expected to be seized.

Millions of dollars and other assets have also been sanctioned by the U.S. and other governments.

The White House said Thursday that European Union member states have reported freezing over $30 billion in assets, including almost $7 billion in boats, helicopters, real estate and artwork.

The big picture: They are now considering what to do with the seized Russian assets, and other countries are also proposing using liquidated assets to help Ukrainian refugees or for rebuilding the country.

The Department of Justice created a Russian sanctions enforcement task force in early March.

It made its first major seizure of Russian assets in early April after, with the help of Spanish law enforcement officials, taking control of a $90 million yacht owned by oligarch and billionaire Viktor Vekselberg.

What are the alternatives to Russian gas in Europe?

In March, energy ministers met in Brussels to discuss how to break the dependency.

"We have to prepare for all possibilities," said France's ecological transition minister, Barbara Pompili, at the session. The EU has sufficient gas and oil stocks to withstand short-term disruption, she said, "however, there is an issue on long-term supplies".

The ministers also discussed assisting Ukraine's energy sector by accelerating a planned link of Ukraine's electricity grid with Europe's, which would make it more independent from Russia.

The crisis shows that moving away from imported fossil fuels is not just important in the fight against climate change, but as a matter of security.

Here are a few alternative options EU states will have to consider:

LNG (liquefied natural gas)

Gas is a bigger problem than oil in Europe and, although winter is coming to an end, there is still a demand for imports. And Norway, Europe’s second largest supplier after Russia, is already operating at maximum capacity.

Now that the EU is slashing Russian imports, European countries may have to divert more ships of LNG in their direction, coming from the US. Although LNG is regarded as the cleanest of the fossil fuels, it is a fossil fuel nonetheless and therefore contributes towards irreversible climate damage.

While this may fill a gap in the short-term, experts say there is not enough LNG to meet all of Europe’s energy needs. In the US they are trying to buy non-Russian natural gas from other parts of the world to keep up with demand.

Germany is specifically looking to import LNG from Qatar and buy gas from other European nations. Europe’s biggest economy may also build two of its own LNG terminals domestically.

Italy is looking into increasing gas supplies from Algeria. Algeria, which has pipelines to Spain and Italy and a large LNG terminal at Skikda, boosted oil and gas output last year by 5 per cent.

This pipeline to Italy could even have spare capacity that could be used to increase supply to Europe as a whole.

The official said the president's funding request is "what we believe is needed to enable Ukraine's success over the next five months of this war."

"And we have every expectation that our partners and allies, particularly those of the G7, as well as many other countries, will continue to provide comparable levels of assistance going forward. so that each of us is doing our part," an official said.

it takes at least a year to expand lng ports. they can fast track the contracts and documents, but that tends to evolve problems in installation and operations, so still gets pushed back .

Russia bombing Kyiv whilst the UN Secretary General is there

At least two explosions were heard early Thursday evening in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv shortly after a meeting between Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres.

The explosions, which sent plumes of black smoke into the air, came just shortly after the two leaders held a press conference in which Guterres condemned the atrocities committed in towns like Bucha, where evidence of mass killings of civilians was found after Russia retreated.

The explosions caused fires in at least two high-rise buildings. In footage released by the Ukrainian presidency, Guterres walked across a courtyard and met Zelenskyy outside before their meeting.

As Russia stopped delivering gas to Poland and Bulgaria, other EU countries realize that Russia isn't bluffing. The Grand Chess Master made his move and Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary buckled. They have agreed to open accounts with Gasprom bank to facilitate the payment for Russian oil and gas. Gasprombank will accept euros/dollars and convert payments into roubles which offers a loophole against western sanctions.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... ubles.html

According to Gonzalo Lira, most people don't fully understand the implications of Russia' Gasprombank setting and controlling the exchange rate for roubles against the euro for different EU countries...breaking the Euro Since the rouble is backed by gold it will hold its value as long as there is a demand for Russian oil and gas making it credible to forex markets and weakening the US $.
