How did we vote for increase in global wheat and oil prices? I'd suggest that the subsidy removed from the fuel can be applied to basic essentials.88sins wrote:hover11 wrote:NFM slips into the red with $783m loss

And with that and the increasing cost of wheat and corn looming in the near future, we can reasonably expect an increase in NFM products in the future.
The people voted for this. Let them have it.

If the fvcking red government had put focus on food security in place, the impact would not have been this worst.wing wrote:How did we vote for increase in global wheat and oil prices? The country has been running successive budget deficits for years now. Any money saved from decreasing subsidies should be used to decrease those deficits and not funneled into other wasteful subsidies.
Gov't needs to focus on food security policies and not subsidising food consumption. That only going to result in artificial demand for goods.

Stop blaming the Govt for everything. Yes they have a part to play, but so do the citizens.
Even under a prefect Govt, they will ketch their royal ass to implement change because of the mentality of the citizens.
You Trinis need to fix yourselves.

It's far cheaper to import staples from the US, China or India than grow locally due to the economies of scale.
