Where can I get Fiberglass Insulation?

Postby Lance » June 16th, 2021, 7:41 pm

Fellas I'm looking for about 15-20 sq feet of fiberglass insulation to build a powder coating oven. It looks like the ones in the photos (but I'm only looking for ones about .75"-1" thick).

Bhagwansinghs has a roll for $500 but it's way more than I need.

Anyone know where I can get this in a smaller quantity or perhaps has some laying around that they would like to sell me?

air conditioning places will have that

massy has a company in plaisance industrial park which has the ceramic wool
can’t remember the company name but it is close to claxton bay
williams foundry is on same compound
ceramic is better than fiberglass by miles.

Dais usually a bulk item bai

especially since it's kinda for a niche application as well.

But check AC men in general. Specifically industrial HVAC men, they should have a few pieces lying around Im sure.

Residential men don't usually deal up with wall/ceiling insulation

I got it at Peake's.

They sell it by the foot (4feet width). So it's about $11.00/4sq feet.

Good value.

400F.

It was about 2" of fiberglass lined with foil.

It's going to be sandwiched between the internal and external panels of oven.

I think it should be sufficient.

Thanks man.

You happen to know where I could get one of those external thermometers with the probes that I can feed into the oven? Somewhere locally I mean ( I see them online for like 15us but the shipping delays are insane)

I have an infrared gun but it's counterproductive to always be opening the oven to test. I think I lose alot of heat in the process

pid controller is what you looking for, but wont use the relay trip, just the thermocouple to read. requires power though.

tuner here Nervewrecker sells , not sure if his go to that range of temps you running.

I wasn't even going to go through all that.

At 400F I saw they have a number of them that come with an LCD and wired prob. seems to be used mostly for cooking.

The foil's adhesive may combust but fiberglass does not.
