LF: Someone To Fix A Sylvania Radiogram

Postby bluefete » May 12th, 2021, 3:32 pm

It looks like this.

Of course, it is nowhere near as pristine as the one in this picture.

But the inside is exactly as the middle picture.

It is lighting up when you put it on but that is all.

Person will need to have knowledge of antique technology.

You can try Sello at 325-3237. He's in Siparia and might be able to assist

Make sure it stays in the family. The speakers on these are amazing.

Nah, proof that quality is better than volume.
I remember these, you will hear every note and nuance of a melody, especially classical and instrumental music, if you take the time to actually listen.

No just more efficient, power was expensive, most loudspeakers were extremely efficient back then. > 98db/w/m for a particular bandwidth was very common.

Less power to get loud and back then there was no compressed music so you would hear every nuance of a melody.

I see 18 sounds and RCF have 100+ db/w/m speakers that handle a lot of power.

Oh so that's why those get so loud compared to a DS18 driver with 86 db/w/m.

Yes, but again, there's no free lunch. Those are usually very narrow bandwidth drivers, so they can handle high power as well and those ratings are for a particular freuqency for eg. 1khz so it doesn't necessarily mean that it's less efficient depending on whether it's a similar driver but in general, that's the concept and purpose of sensitivity ratings.
