If they allow non-members to shop and also corden off the non-grocery items - so no access to the electronics, clothes, appliances etc then they will effectively be a supermarket.

It is larger and has a wider selection than earlier grocery stores, but is smaller and more limited in the range of merchandise than a hypermarket or big-box market.

PriceSmart has done the same thing in their other market countries as required since July 2020.

They should prohibit sales of TVs and all other electronics though.

But govt accepted the change and allowed them to stay open. That mean if I was a clothes shop and start to sell groceries I could stay open too.

Where during a global pandemic the workers are forced, under threat of not being able to make rent or mortage payments, to go to a workplace jam packed with consumers who may or may not be infected with a virus. Are the workers remunerated with extra Danger Pay? Nope. Are the workers allowed reduced hours with pay unchanged to reduce their contact with the public? Nope. What do these essential workers get extra for doing this then? Some viral videos of people clapping...

Actually yes. Pricesmart has a grocer's licence which is why they could still cut out the 'membership' aspect and remain open. If you operating a business that is supposed to be closed but you happen to be in possession of a grocer's licence then sure. Clear the space, change the sign out front and start selling food and beverage.

In that case what was the point of the stipulation?
If they are and were always a grocery under the overriding Grocers License then how could you order them to close?

In a case like this they (Pricemart) aren't breaking the law then, or am I missing something?
