High powered guns in Trinidad.

Postby widdyphuck » April 23rd, 2021, 8:43 pm

Who in their right mind would try to smuggle something like this through a legal port of entry. Doesn't seem like a small fry to me.
Who paid for this?
How did that person acquire all that forex?
What was the intent?maybe for a security firm?
Are their repercussions for this find?
Who is going to compensate the person for his loss?

those questions been asked long time now

to pay usd cash for drugs is no small fry
cocaine/weed exporters from south america not taking ttd or credit card,
they only taking hard usd cash and surely 6 or 7 figures

likewise to bring in guns this way requires coordination with customs
they are brought in via "legal" routes where somebody turns a blind eye or documents falsified.

Bandits are held 99% of the time with glock pistols, glocks dont come from south america
same with ar15/ak47

Civilians aren't allowed to own or use 5.56 calibre weapons which these are, that includes security firms as well. My best bet is that they were brought in by major drug barons to distribute to their loyal gaza soldiers and zesser youths to protect merchandise and turf. Probably same way abu brought in a similar shipment decades ago which shipping authorities turned several blind eyes to. And I'm sure many more shipments came in since then. Somebody probably didn't pay a money this time

Trinidad is a transshipment point. All that drugs goes up in the US and Europe and ends up being a net forex earner for the island.

When local businesses can't get forex from the bank, they buy goods locally. That goods come from people who do get forex, maybe or maybe not from a black market US$ seller.

The black market USD comes from drug sales in the US, who get their supply from narco traffickers here on the island. The assault rifles and bullets seen in the OP are tools of the trade.

So we all guilty. The only man to really tackle that was Patrick Manning, who brought in OPVs and announced a radar that could track a pirogue from Venezuela all the way up to Grenada. Manning also floated the dollar and removed currency restrictions, significantly shrinking the necessity of engaging the black market US$ for legitimate businesses on the island.

Manning had barely 3 years as PM during that term. If Manning, not Kamla, had won in 2010, this country would have been so much better off. "We will fight them on land," she said, when canceling the OPVs. Kamla is the worst thing to ever happen to this country. We going to pay for that mistake from now until 2025 or 2030 or some damn thing unless she gets put out.

Laparkan and amerijet do the majority of air lifting, all the skyboxes companies buy space on their planes.

For sure, large black market exists and only encourages more black market activity which invariably involves contraband of all sorts and of course casinos thrown in the mix

Drugs seized at Sando Warf yesterday estimated at 38 million.
I say these guys would get around 20 years in jail for that.

This is third such shipment this year with guns being shipped from the US and being discovered by Customs. Thus far. I can't imagine what hasn't been found but they are getting more brazen. Also the US contacted TTPS and told them they might have something on their side so check that shipment in particular.

Here we are. That is a lot of firepower. The police lights and sirens are also an eye opener.

depends where "your" customs officer shift rotation is...
officers are rotated on a regular basis

often time when you hear a particular skybox company hitting customers hard with charges
it is because a rough officer with problems home working in that bond

finding the consignee on file means nothing really

usually you put a random or fake name as the consignee, in case the items get busted
if i wanted i could send 50 guns to Trinidad and put you as the consignee
then get a copy of your DP or ID and do an authorization for a broker or driver to collect after its cleared

worst case scenario and it get busted, police coming for you

if we get through, you never know that 50 guns come into the country under your name

real racket does run in customs

just need 2-3 low level and probably 1 high level person on board

Wrt the importation of the arms at Piarco, why wasn't a secret operation done to intercept on it being collected and apprehend those persons. Then trace back to the senders.
We don't have intelligence for those sort of operations?

I believe that the stuff was already paid for. Its the local person who ain't get paid yet becausehe ain't get to sell the stuff. But he has bigger problems right now like securing bail and trying to recover that lost money from that seizure.

the risk not worth it for this kinda thing

imagine they get information today that on wednesday a broker is coming to clear the goods and collect it and take it to the owner

between now and wednesday the items just going to disappear from the bond anyway
then you have a batch of high powered weapons on the streets when you could have seized them.
the dozens of people who know about the upcoming bust...it will leak out and the real owner will find out
the customs officers who helping or the low level driver/security will make sure those items disappear before they get seized

usually items does just disappear from the bond, they dont wait to be cleared.
