That's how brokies think.maj. tom wrote:I didn't say he owned an emerald mine. I am aware of the story. I said he has inherited wealth from an emerald mine product. His family owned stakes in the company.
And secondly the one trying to debunk the claims (via Twitter of course) is Musk himself, one who has been proven on paper to be an endless liar about everything.
My point was really that self-made billionaires are a myth. That is false worship to think that such people exist and why persons out there want to admire billionaires because they're self made running purely on their genius and the gift of USA capitalism. Jeff Bezos didn't start off selling in a bookshop. His parents gave him $300k to start. Bill Gates parents were already wealthy and had several connections to IBM executives. Donald Trump's father gave him $413 million but never a hug.
Guess what.Elon still is the richest man in the world, twitter or not.Go figure. He probably not as dumb as you make him out to be.maj. tom wrote:righttttt. a brokie.
btw he did not reinstate Trump's account. Trump is still banned. That was just a parody account pay-for-speech blue tick scheme genius idea that he has now backpedaled on. Nice that you couldn't tell the difference, that was the point.
First he was going to improve Twitter, then he fired everybody and making a mess of the coding.
So now the plan is to bomb twitter stock so he can make money in Space? You drag that goalpost all the way there yourself?
Oh yeah the 3D chess thing. The $13B worth to $44B not worth to stock bomb to broke to Space. Forgot about that.
You realize that Elon is autistic?maj. tom wrote:The focus is the title of the thread and the topic is now a core modern platform of free speech.
Not a personal interest in any particular person, but the entity who has chosen to tread on what should be perceived to be one of the fundamental human rights i.e. speech.
It's the same with Trump, never focused on him as a game show host or a pageant/casino/hotel businessman, but when he became President and started destroying institutions and stabbed the very heart of democracy with blithering idiocracy, nepotism and a coup attempt.... yeah people generally have heavy opinions on those sort of things. Not a person, but THE person who is doing it. This definitely would never have been a topic like so many other $Billion buyouts if the entity didn't make it an issue.
Was this a problem on Ballmer when Microsoft bought Skype? Was this such an issue on Zuckerberg when Facebook bought Whatsapp? If Elon Musk had actually bought Twitter for actual retail price and just left it alone instead of interfering with that freedom (instead of pay for verification) and software engineer workings, would this current topic be here, would anyone have cared?
He would be insane to do that considering many advertisers have said that that's the last straw for them.The_Honourable wrote:I see he reinstated the accounts of Kathy Griffin, Jordon Peterson and The Babylon Bee.
Elon is currently running a poll on Trump. You already know if he comes back, Twitter will be lit from all sides.
Once Trump is involved, it just can't exist.Twitter was good before when anybody against the liberals got banned from having an opinion. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, worse thing ever.Free speech is now defined as cancelling anybody that opposes the opinions of liberals.Go figure.Free speech protected!!ed360123 wrote:He would be insane to do that considering many advertisers have said that that's the last straw for them.The_Honourable wrote:I see he reinstated the accounts of Kathy Griffin, Jordon Peterson and The Babylon Bee.

Does anybody tell Zuckerberg how to run Meta?
Would he even care?

Understand something fundamental about these social media platforms and it will all make sense.Les Bain wrote:One person mentioned something I never even gave thought: many users are busy asking for recommendations of sites to jump to after abandoning Twitter, but virtually nobody's mentioning Zuckerberg's metaverse.
Guy's invested a ton of money into the metaverse and the only time I heard about it was for a local nonsensical corporate thing, and they shilling the metaverse as a meeting location, casually mentioning that you'll need the metaverse headset to attend stuffy ass corporate meetings but as a cartoonified avatar.

The core purpose of any of these is not for end users to have an avenue to voice their opinion.
They are not meant for end users to meet with friends.
They are not meant for end users to network with people.
Worst, they aren't meant for everybody and their dog's political views.
That is the deception, and a well played lie.
The core business is ADVERTISING.Whatever business move they make, banning Trump,Andrew Tate, Elon is to generate INTEREST, a buzz,an impression in people.
This is done to drive traffic to their sites and anywhere their advertisers products can be driven.
That being said...
Meta is poised to be the biggest collection of user information, opinions, preferences and more important, marketing data, whether you alive or dead. The AI behind the scenes can easily predict market trends,or even create market trends for products.IMO, they haven't quite ironed out the Meta machine as yet, else it would have been in your face all the time.Zuck just laying low for the hour.Never underestimate people like him.
Meanwhile, the entitled sheep beating up over other people business that in their face all the time, and completely oblivious to an important concept wrt social media.
If the product is free, what's being sold is you.
