A man is said to be fighting for his life at hospital after a shooting on Wrightson Road in Port of Spain earlier today.

Police said the incident happened shortly after the man picked up a friend who was released from custody at the Four Roads Police Station in Diego Martin.

As they were making their way along Wrightson Road, they were accosted by gunmen who opened fire on their vehicle, causing it to crash near the PowerGen plant.

The still-unidentified man sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital. His friend was unharmed in the incident.

Police believe the men were heading to East Dry River when the incident occurred.

Investigations are continuing.

You noticed the discrepancy with the graphs?

He's claiming the lowest number of serious crime in 20 years while the 1st graph shows the number of reported crimes for that time period. This doesn't necessarily entail there was a reduction in crime but possibly a reduction in crimes that are reported to the TTPS. Serious crime could be on the rise but they are not being reported.

The 12 other graphs shows statistics for the period 2014-2020 but the narrative continues that it's the lowest number of serious crime in 20 years.

A Wallerfield woman was hunted down by two gunmen, and executed last night in Wallerfield.

The deceased has been identified as Amanda West of Chaconia Drive, Jacob Hill, Wallerfield.

The Express was told that at about 8 pm yesterday, West was in her home with two other people when they heard a loud noise and found two gunmen in the living room.

They tried to flee the house.

However, they were pursued by the gunmen, who opened fire on them.

West ran to the home of a friend along Orchid Drive where she was shot several times.

A team of officers from the Homicide Bureau and the Northern Division responded.

Police have no motive for the killing.

However, they said that West was 'known to them' having been linked to a group in the community that committed robberies, rapes and kidnappings.
