The diversity hire strikes again!!!

However as much as I dislike her given that there were way more qualified persons to put (Klobuchar's statement on Ukraine so far has been heads and shoulders any other female Dem) Kamala was asked by the host of the programme to put it in layman's terms.

And I mean you really couldn't go simpler than her explanation especially given she was on a show called Morning Hustle hosted by someone named Headkrack.

Russia imposes sanctions on US President Joe Biden, his son and other US officials

From CNN's Sarah Dean

Russia has imposed sanctions against US President Joe Biden, his son, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, other US officials, and “individuals associated with them,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

“In response to a series of unprecedented sanctions prohibiting, among other things, entry into the United States for top officials of the Russian Federation, from March 15 of this year, the Russian 'stop list' includes on the basis of reciprocity President J. Biden, Secretary of State A. Blinken, Secretary of Defense L. Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff M. Milley, as well as a number of department heads and prominent US figures,” the statement read.

The statement went on to explain that this retaliation step was “an inevitable consequence of the extremely Russophobic course taken by the current US Administration, which, in a desperate attempt to maintain American hegemony, has relied, discarding all decency, on the frontal constricting of Russia.”

The invasion of Ukraine unites the American people against Russia and Putin

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has united the American people across partisan, ideological, and demographic lines. They mostly agree about how the U.S. government should respond, and they are in no mood to compromise with Vladimir Putin.

The Economist/YouGov survey recently posed detailed questions to a random sample of Americans about how the United States should be reacting to Russia’s actions. Here’s a summary of how registered voters answered.

Image

The pattern is clear—Americans are in favor of steps that will help the Ukrainians to defend themselves, but they are averse to measures that might draw the United States directly into the conflict. President Biden has drawn a line between defending our NATO allies and fighting for Ukraine, and most Americans seem to agree with him.

On balance, the American people think we haven’t responded firmly enough to Russia. About half of registered voters think we should get tougher, compared to one in ten who think we’ve been too harsh and two in ten who think our response has been about right. A Pew Research Center survey released on March 15 found similar results.

One thing is clear—the American people are in no mood to placate Vladimir Putin, even to end the current war or avert a wider one. By huge margins, they oppose steps such as promising Russia that Ukraine will never join NATO, allowing Russia to enjoy greater influence in countries that were part of the former Soviet Union, and rolling back NATO troop deployments in Eastern Europe.

Yea.....
No. You don't understand how banking works in the West. You would have studied this in a Finance course for any reputable MBA.

The US government doesn't give direction to the Federal Reserve. The US government just makes appointments to the Board of Governors. In fact, the latest appointments were by and large reappointments of the same governors that were appointed during the prior administration. That is why Powell is still chairman.

The Federal Reserve Banks are not a part of the federal government, but they exist because of an act of Congress. Their purpose is to serve the public. So is the Fed private or public?

The answer is both. While the Board of Governors is an independent government agency, the Federal Reserve Banks are set up like private corporations. Member banks hold stock in the Federal Reserve Banks and earn dividends. Holding this stock does not carry with it the control and financial interest given to holders of common stock in for-profit organizations. The stock may not be sold or pledged as collateral for loans. Member banks also elect six of the nine members of each Bank's board of directors.

1. The prior post gives quite a succinct description of the current economic situation in the US, if not most of the western world.

2. I responded to both of you.

Covid News: Federal Appeals Court Reinstates Biden’s Vaccination Mandate for Federal Workers

Nancy Pelosi and several top lawmakers test positive for the coronavirus, while Broadway shows are being shuttered amid rising cases.

Published April 7, 2022

Updated April 8, 2022, 3:22 p.m. ET

A federal appeals court on Thursday reversed a decision that had blocked the White House from requiring federal workers to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

In September, President Biden said that the vast majority of federal workers had to be vaccinated or they would face disciplinary measures. But a preliminary injunction, instated in January by a federal judge in Texas, stopped the Biden administration from enforcing that mandate.

About 95 percent of federal workers were already in compliance with the mandate by the time the injunction was issued, the White House said.

In a 2-1 vote, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled that the judge in Texas, Jeffrey Brown, did not have the jurisdiction to block the mandate. Judge Brown had ruled that the president did not have the authority to compel employees to “undergo a medical procedure as a condition of their employment.”

He had said that less invasive measures could protect public health, like masking, social distancing and remote work.

In 2019, President Donald J. Trump appointed Judge Brown to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

In its ruling on Thursday, the appeals court said that the lawsuit challenging the mandate, which was filed by the group Feds for Medical Freedom, should be dismissed.

Mr. Biden’s mandate, which also applies to health care workers and certain private sector employees, was prompted in part by the Delta surge of last year.
