What an embarassment.

Kamala becomes the most unpopular vice president

The disappointing first months of her term have also worried long-term strategists, many of whom had hoped she would run for president as early as the next elections

Kamala Harris has become the most unpopular US vice president since at least the 1970s just after six months she got into the administration, according to polls.

More Americans disapprove as of her job performance, which is shown by her floundering poll numbers that indicate she is now "underwater," alarmed Democrat strategists are grappling with the number, reports The Telegraph.

The White House intends to deploy her only in certain areas to campaign ahead of next year's midterm Congressional elections, and will attempt to raise her profile by sending her on foreign trips in the coming months.

The disappointing first months of her term have also worried long-term strategists, many of whom had hoped she would run for president as early as the next elections.

Two recent polls both showed 46 per cent of Americans approved of Ms Harris, with 47 per cent and 48 per cent disapproving.

By contrast Joe Biden's approval rating in an average of polls is 51.3 per cent, and disapproval is 44.9 per cent. One of the most concerning elements for the White House is Ms Harris's unpopularity among young people.

An Economist/YouGov poll found 41 per cent of voters aged 18-29 had an "unfavourable" view of Ms Harris, with only 36 per cent viewing her "favourably." Ms Harris is also struggling with Hispanic voters, possibly due to her role leading US border policy.

Ahead of the midterm elections it is expected she will not be sent to campaign in the key border state of Arizona. On Friday night, as part of its plan to boost Ms Harris's standing, the White House announced she would become the first US vice president to visit Vietnam next month, in a move aimed at raising pressure on China.

Professor Larry Sabato, Director of the University of Virginia's Center for Politics, said: "Biden has given her some very tough assignments - immigration and voting rights - but she hasn't helped herself, she's made some mistakes, like not going to the border."

He said before Ms Harris was selected as Mr Biden's running mate "outside of California nobody knew who the hell she was. If you know nothing about somebody it's hard to have high favourables."

The only way for Ms Harris to turn things around was to "take one of those two big issues Biden has given her and make it a big success.

"She has to find, her staff, Biden have to find something she can play a key role in that will transform her image and then build on that."

He said the assumption that Ms Harris would become the Democrat nominee after Mr Biden - either in 2024 or 2028 - was a "mistake".

Prof Sabato said: "She's not going to inherit the Democratic nomination. She might win it. But she can expect a lot of challengers." In the polls the intensity of opposition has also been noted by White House officials.

Of the 48 per cent in the Economist/YouGov poll who viewed the vice president "unfavourably," the vast majority [40 per cent] said they did so "very unfavourably." Ms Harris has alienated some Hispanic voters by telling people from Central America "Do not come" to the US, while also infuriating conservatives and some independents by taking many weeks to physically visit the border.

A faltering performance in a high-profile TV interview with NBC in June left White House aides scrambling, and there have been numerous reports of dysfunction in her office.

The only recent vice president to have similarly poor ratings after six months was Mike Pence, but he was not "underwater".

According to Gallup 42.1 per cent approved of Mr Pence's performance at that point, and 41.9 percent disapproved.

The previous vice president - Mr Biden - had an approval rating above 50 per cent after six months. Before that Dick Cheney, and Al Gore, were in the 60s at the same stage.

Even Dan Quayle, the much-mocked vice president of George H.W. Bush, was nowhere not underwater after six months.

He had an approval rating of 43 per cent, and disapproval of just 22 per cent, with 34 per cent undecided.

Mr Bush himself was a popular vice president under Ronald Reagan, as was his predecessor Walter Mondale, who became Jimmy Carter's vice president in 1976.

Kamala Harris is a 'bully,' former staffer tells the Washington Post

A week after several high-profile departures from the office of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Washington Post published a larger story on Harris' management skills based on interviews with "18 people connected to Harris."

Many former staffers did not have nice things to say.

Gil Duran, who worked for Harris when she was California attorney general in 2013, quit after only five months, and now writes for the San Francisco Examiner, went on the record with harsh criticism.

"One of the things we’ve said in our little text groups among each other is what is the common denominator through all this and it’s her," he said. "Who are the next talented people you’re going to bring in and burn through and then have (them) pretend they’re retiring for positive reasons."

The Washington Post reported that "one consistent problem" staffers referenced was the fact that "Harris would refuse to wade into briefing materials prepared by staff members, then berate employees when she appeared unprepared." It was this phenomenon that prompted a particularly biting quote by an anonymous former staffer.

"It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work," the staffer said. "With Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully and it’s not really clear why."

The story also contained a quote in defense of Harris from prominent Democratic strategist Sean Clegg, who most recently advised Gov. Gavin Newsom in September's gubernatorial recall election. Clegg said that Harris faces a double standard as a woman.

"People personalize these things," he said of those who were unhappy with Harris. "I've never had an experience in my long history with Kamala where I felt like she was unfair. Has she called bulls—t? Yes. And does that make people uncomfortable sometimes? Yes. But if she were a man with her management style, she would have a TV show called 'The Apprentice.'"

The Washington Post story also touches on how those close to Harris fear that her style as a boss could complicate her future plans, which likely include another bid for the presidency in either 2024 or 2028. You can read the full report from the Washington Post.

Real interesting stories about this mongrel mutt coming out.

Looking her true level of incompetence showing.

Kamala Harris 'elevated above her ability' as office turmoil ensues: Devine

Recent reports of increasing turmoil within Vice President Kamala Harris' office is leading to renewed speculation whether the California Democrat is unfit for the high office she holds.

New York Post columnist Miranda Devine told Fox News on Monday that the former senator was "elevated above her ability" when President Biden chose her as his running mate.

Devine, author of the new book "Laptop From Hell" chronicling the contents of Hunter Biden's infamous computer, said it has become clear that Harris was tapped because she fulfills the subjective identity requirements of contemporary Democrats.

KAMALA HARRIS ‘IS TRYING TO FAKE HER WAY THROUGH’ THE VICE PRESIDENCY: JESSE WATTERS

"The problem is she really was elevated above her ability. She was chosen by Joe Biden not because of her quality of her work or her intellect," Devine said. "It was because she was a woman -- and she was a woman of color. And that puts her in a bad position. And it puts America in a terrible position."

"Fox News Primetime" host Tammy Bruce noted how an operations staffer in Harris' office named David Gins tweeted a photo of himself at a desk with a caption gushing about how much he "love[s] my job" – after news broke of other staffers fleeing the building.

"It’s frightening because this is a woman the heartbeat away from the presidency," Devine said of Harris. "The president himself is 78 years old. So you want your vice president to be ready to lead. She can’t even lead her own office. These reports have been coming in a steady drumbeat for months, actually."

Devine noted Harris' 2020 presidential bid "bottomed out" when even the staunchest Democrats turned away from her campaign.

She added that the fact that former staffers are going on the record and not commenting anonymously about their misgivings with Harris shows there is a true issue with her.

"This is from people who are putting their names to it. This is coming from the White House. She is obviously not someone who plays very well with others," she said

What an important quote

"The problem is she really was elevated above her ability. She was chosen by Joe Biden not because of her quality of her work or her intellect," Devine said. "It was because she was a woman -- and she was a woman of color. And that puts her in a bad position. And it puts America in a terrible position."

Wasn't Kamala the first major dem candidate to drop out (before Iowa primaries nonetheless) despite raising a truck load of campaign money?

She was barely popular with her own party and there must be for a reason for it.
