Cruise ships recruit workers from the poorest ,3rd world countries...you earn wages from tips and you disembark only to work ...not for sightseeing. Also everything is dollar for dollar you still have to pay for food and other necessities that you may need in addition you are always on call if the need arises. No pension, no insurance if you are sick or injured on the job so yeah. Slavery on a boat.adnj wrote:Cruise ships are paying US$15/hr and up.

There are some horror stories working on cruise ships. Most of the Caribbean workers are not frontline staff to receive tips . Ships put good English speakers on frontline duty as you can have broken english spoken. They are maids, cooks and cleaners. Rooms are shared sometimes up to 4 in a cabin below deck. I knew of two persons that worked as crew and they did not last long because of the conditions. If those are seeking cruise jobs then good for them , better than doing nothing.adnj wrote:hover11 wrote:Cruise ships recruit workers from the poorest ,3rd world countries...you earn wages from tips and you disembark only to work ...not for sightseeing. Cruise ship workers get:
US$15 per hour and up
Free room and board (meaning food)
Free medical care
Tips from passengers at the end of the cruise.
Free housing, food, medical, tips, TT$18,000 per month, and some travel.
You sound salty. Slaves must be doing better than TT government workers.

Exactly it all depends on which department you are placed in, idk why ppl think it's a bed of roses, servers receive the bare minimum and you are ALWAYS on call, 2 am you hadda get up and wuk even though your shift just ended 3 hours ago. Great for ppl that don't have any commitments .You really have to know yourself when applying for these things. I don't not have the patience to deal with people 24/7Kickstart wrote:There are some horror stories working on cruise ships. Most of the Caribbean workers are not frontline staff to receive tips . FACT: Everything is unstainable and costing too much now compared to the outdated rates we currently pay..so the state will raise rates...and if that doesn't work...more taxes...wing wrote:Did you read the article or fell for a clickbait title. I know who I voting for if the rest of trinis want to be babbling idiots that's their prerogative. I hope protective services seeing this along with T&TEC workers , no increase for yall but URP who adds no productivity to the country in any form or fashion is being spurlged on so that means there is room for increase.Fun fact , URP was supposed to be relief for the unemployed yet I see ppl starting and ending their working lives in URP, money hadda hemorrhage and votes hadda buy so the thing go. Anyway don't mind me stopping you from voting back imbert laughing all his way to the bank at taxpayers' expense while his supporters suffering for a 100 dollar increase before taxwing wrote:Less money for public servants 15% increase. State companies will forever be in the position they are in due to two major factors.....board of directors change like clothes. How can you have leadership or vision in a company when the persons in charge of running and putting the company on track are always changing which means the company's vision changes as well. When a state organization does not have a board it delays alot of processes due to the bureaucratic system in place. Also , the powers that be don't want to make the necessary moves due to them being politically unfavorable yet profitable for the organizations in questionDe Dragon wrote:hover11 wrote:Padarath: Who told former WASA CEO to remove Five Islands from list of companies owing money

Marvin, me eh know how pressure does wuk" Gonzales said it's the former CEO. His punishment? "Demotion" to his former senior management position That's why State companies will forever be the albatross around our necks.
REMEMBERING DR ERIC WILLIAMS
A wreath laying ceremony was held at the statue of the late Dr Eric Williams, the first prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, at Harris Promenade, San Fernando, on Sunday. Express chief photographer Dexter Philip was there.

The only unstained PNM prime minister we ever had was Chambers. All the rest were and present in corruption.The_Honourable wrote:Williams was overrated and may not have reached the political heights he achieved with a more learned population like today.
