The phizer vaccine was only submitted for review based on initial clinical trials 5 days ago. They are pushing hard for the vaccine approval.

By constitution and legal right, you cannot deny a child an education. What they are trying to do is fear monger parents into vaccination of their kids.

I have no issue with vaccinations but something voluntary being made into mandatory means dishonesty was used to gain public support for vaccinations.

With reports of cover-ups of covid cases in ministries to allegations that vaccine side effects are not even recorded by MoH one has to wonder if we are putting the wrong priorities first

Vaccines are compulsory, just as described by Rowley.

You are currently required to provide proof of vaccination at EVERY LEVEL of education.

"The immunization card is an extremely important document as it is a requirement for children to be enrolled in schools."

Online learning does not work for younger kids, my cousin who's 8 cannot sit down and pay attention to online classes. For lockdown months his mother was attending the class and then teaching him, but whenever she has to work he's basically getting nothing from his online class and there are many many others like him.

Online schooling is actually better suited to some kids thn in person classes, schools confirmed this in the past 2 terms, as there have been many standard 1 and 2's doing better online rather than in person school. So indeed your nephew may need to get checked for some attention disorder.

The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) is preparing for a second strike that will see most educators switching off their devices and ceasing online classes.

Titled "Blackout the Sequel", teachers will be going ghost again on October 5, 2021.

The idea is that students ought not to be taught on this day, nor should teachers show up for active duty, save for perhaps submitting a "sick leave" notice.

The strike will commemorate World Teacher's Day which falls under the theme "Teachers at the heart of education recovery".

Success Laventille Secondary School principal Stacey Lezama said: “We had three fully vaccinated pupils. We taught all day."

Pupils skip school

Principals, teachers ready amid low turnout

The Express reported out of a population of 30,000 pupils in these forms, more than 14,000 parents had responded through consent forms to have their children take the Covid-19 vaccine,

A school official said: “In St Patrick’s, the board schools had a turnout of about 70 to 80 per cent pupils because of the vaccination.

The socio-economic conditions of the pupils have impacted their return to school. It’s a relatively low turnout at the Government secondary schools.

“The feedback is there’s a lot of uncertainty on the part of parents.

They are not sure what to do. They need to get a better understanding of what to do. Parents are asking why should I incur an extra cost, when the child can engage in virtual learning? Parents are now comfortable with the devices, and they are slowly getting more adjusted to the online platform.”

Minister of Education says forms 1-3 (vaccinated only) can return to physical school "within the next 2 weeks once all goes well".
https://fb.watch/8wpM3WNli3/

Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said students of Forms 1 to 3 who are vaccinated will be allowed to return to physical school in the next two weeks if all goes well.

She made the statement during her contribution to the budget debate on Friday.

She called on parents to have their children vaccinated and send them back to school, as this was best for them.

Gadsby-Dolly said the focus of the ministry was to prioritise the reopening of physical schools and allow children to return safely.

She said approximately 19,000 children enter the school system annually, with approximately 12,000 graduating from secondary school without basic qualifications. She said the covid19 pandemic contributed to this learning loss and a widening achievement gap.

She said the allocation given to her ministry would be used to continue to distribute electronic devices to teachers and students, create an educational technology unit to enhance the current learning system, and for an education management system and other initiatives.

She said teachers were trained in collaboration with international organisations.

WTF is "if all goes well"? :?
Don't they have a metric to use?
Is it a coercion technique to get vaccinations increased?

I didn't turn 12 till the end of term 3 in form 2. I'm assuming there will be significant chunks of students not able to get vaxed because of the age cutoff. Why include forms 1 at all?

Ages 5 to 11 is coming soon to FDA. WHO won't be far behind...

Pfizer, BioNTech seek U.S. COVID-19 vaccine clearance for children 5-11

Reuters

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has set a date of Oct. 26 for its panel of outside advisers to meet and discuss the application, making it possible for children in this age group - numbering around 28 million - to begin receiving the two-dose Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine shortly afterward.

"With new cases in children in the U.S. continuing to be at a high level, this submission is an important step in our ongoing effort against #COVID19," Pfizer wrote on Twitter.

The vaccine already has won U.S. emergency use authorization in teens ages 12 to 15 and is fully approved by regulators for people ages 16 and up.
