MEDIA RELEASE
False Covid-19 Immunization Card Conspirators Granted Bail
Three persons who were caught during a sting operation cracking down on the conspiracy to illegally issue false Covid-19 immunization cards at the Fyzabad Health Facility, were granted bail, after appearing before a Justice of the Peace, yesterday.
NIKITA MEDINA, 39, of Siparia, a registered nurse and RICHARD RODRIGUEZ, 30, of Palo Seco and KEVON MOSES, 39, of Claxton Bay, both administrative clerks, were charged with conspiracy to misbehave in public office, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Wednesday 9th February, 2022.
The accused appeared before JP Young, yesterday, Thursday 10th February, 2022.
MEDINA, RODRIGUEZ and MOSES, were each granted bail in the sum of $100,000. They are expected to appear at the Siparia Magistrates’ Court on March 4th 2022.
Acting on information, officers conducted a sting operation in the South Western Division, on Monday 7th February, 2022.
During the exercise, Fraud Squad officers proceeded to the Fyzabad Health Centre, where they observed a nurse pretending to administer a vaccine to a person. The nurse thereafter allegedly issued a Covid-19 immunization card to the person for a fee. The suspect was arrested and further enquiries resulted in the arrest of several other persons, one of whom subsequently tested positive for Covid-19. Special arrangements were made by the TTPS Executive and medical personnel to ensure the safety and welfare of the officers and the Covid-19 positive suspect.
The accused were charged by Cpl (Ag.) Solozano.
The sting operation was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Arlet Groome, Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Francis and ASP (Ag.) Pierre and coordinated by Insps. Samuel and Thomas, along with officers of the Fraud Squad and Special Investigations Unit.

Jason,
The steps that are needed are the same steps that was needed from the very start of this pandemic and also the same steps needed from basic elementary understanding of virus preventative measures.
Follow the protocols.

this was before the CCP cracked down, tho. Now even the top-tier KN95's are labelled non-medical to conform to the regulation. I think the difference with medically labelled N95/KN95 is splash resistance, which for most of us is irrelevant. Somewhere I have a bookmark with 3M's complete mask listing.
Ideal mask now is N95 NiOSH certified with exhaust valve (though it might be illegal under island mask mandates).
or re-usable respirator
Masks with vents or exhalation valves are not advised because they allow unfiltered breath to escape the mask.

Trinidad and Tobago's hospital occupancy rates have declined significantly.
This according to Principal Medical Officer Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards.
Speaking at the Ministry of Health's virtual media briefing on Saturday, Dr Abdool-Richards noted that the country saw an increase in hospitalisations in October 2019, with peak occupancy in December.
However, she said over the last week hospital occupancy has decreased to under 50 per cent.
She said: "We noticed a trend of increasing hospital numbers that was confirmed on or about October 19, 2021. That is approximately 117 days ago. The peak occupancy occurred between the 21 and 23 of December. This occupancy reached 81 per cent which was above our critical zone, our critical threshold in the parallel healthcare system. Since then the hospital occupancy and the A&E admissions have slowly declined."
She added: "Up until today we are now at 47 percent. This decline took approximately 53 days. Over the last week, we have noted that the hospital occupancy has decreased to under 50 per cent. Today, after 117 days of this trend we have noticed the lowest hospital occupancy with these 416 patients. We have also noted the lowest ICU occupancy, 37 patients, representing 46 per cent occupancy. And, a similar trend is noted in the A&E departments where there are 39 patients this morning with four ICU-level patients. Yet again, a far cry from the 200 or so patients that we were seeing in the last two weeks in December."
However, Dr Abdool-Richards warned against complacency.
