We will wait for WHO to eventually confirm it... a variant that evades vaccine immunity is not a matter of if but whenj.o.e wrote:hover11 wrote:You do know the SA variant is a whole new ball game and evades vaccine immunity rightst7 wrote:redmanjp wrote:If that new SA variant start spreading rapidly it would be like a brand new pandemic and we will have to close the border or quarantine even vaccinated ppl and a next lockdown if cases confirmed here.

This isn’t confirmed. Also panic sells, the media loves it.

and it has a high degree of immune escape. that's the entire reason scientists (scientists, not journalists) that follow the variants are scared shitless over it. It means the protection we get from a previous Delta infection or vaccine-based protection does not cover it (and vice versa).
People are calling this "SARS-CoV-3," I don't know if that's hyperbole or not but the point is this variant no longer competes with other SARS-CoV-2 variants. It can co-circulate along side Delta, infecting and killing right along side it.

daring dragoon wrote:money better than lives. why have a cold storage warehouse in central to store bodies if only 8, 10, 4, 6 persons dying from covid all the while? most funeral homes can manage that with so many funeral homes in TT. they fact they want a WAREHOUSE means all the funeral homes overwhelmed and cannot store the AMOUNT of DEAD BODIES coming out of covid and other dying persons. when someone at MOH said to me wednesday before lunch was 50 people done dead from covid but only 11 deaths were reported to media. there are more dead from covid that what is told to us and the warehouse should prove it.
