mask mandate will remain in healthcare settings

High risk groups still recommended to mask - especially indoors and in public transport, ferry, plane, etc.

So is it that masks just stop working or they never worked?

they feel the current risks do not warrant a mandate
You can still wear a mask if you feel the risk to you warrants wearing a mask to protect yourself or others from you

what you think businesses going to do though?
the masks always posed a security issue, many businesses may ban you from wearing masks to enter their establishments

Mask mandate ends July 17

https://www.guardian.co.tt/news/mask-mandate-ends-july-17-6.2.1515615.1f00d46b35

The mask mandate will no longer be in effect come Sunday, July 17 according to Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh.

Speaking at a virtual press conference on Wednesday, he indicated the legal requirement will be dropped in favour of recommendations by the Ministry of Health which people will voluntarily choose to follow based on their own risk assessment.

Although the framework is yet to be finalised, Deyalsingh said the ministry intends to recommend that four groups of vulnerable people continue wearing masks. These are unvaccinated, immunocompromised and those with comorbidities, the elderly and pregnant women.

He said recommendations will also be made for masks to be worn in certain settings which include geriatric homes, children’s homes, any indoor congregations, public transport, and religious services.
He said final guidance should be provided by next Wednesday.

hopefully it doesn't come to that- perhaps the regulations should now state that masks are optional but u cant ban someone from wearing it especially if they are in high risk groups.

You can still wear a mask if you feel the risk to you warrants wearing a mask to protect yourself or others from you

But I thought other people need to wear a mask in order for my mask to work.

One or two people dying a day is the risk that we are willing to accept?

Sure with cloth masks that offer little to no protection. Continue wearing your mask I will be enjoying fresh air.
