Not all insurance policies (including some full comprehensive policies) have special perils including flood insurance.
If he did have flood coverage and willfully drove through the flood then the insurance can legally not pay.
Hope he gets through though, that's a new vehicle.

When the rope or strap snapped, the people close to that Hiliux have no idea how dangerous that is.

A waterlogged van is easily a couple thousand kilos. The tension on that rope is enough to cut a body clean in half.

Not a flood pic but an observation. This morning I used a different street to drop my son to school. Noticed a business on the corner of the EMR and Clemanty St in El Dorado doing renovation works and they put the property's sewer lines in the external drain. Not on top but inside the drain aroud half way down. So an already small drain has basically had its capacity cut in 1/2 for an almost 25' run by what looks like 6" PVC.

A lot of flooding is caused by sheit like this.

gives drivers a better idea of the depth esp those who feeling brave.

Good low budget/low tech idea. They should put these up all over the known flood zones.

historically, island authorities spend most of their time gathering data and "investigating," because the other end of those tasks -- taking action -- is deeply hamstrung by corruption in all the island's institutions.

so flood gauges fit right in. surprised we haven't seen them before, probably only unveiling now because the population is very distracted.

It's troubling that flooding is so commonplace now that this is now necessary

At least is only for flooding…. Buffalo had more snow last week than this gauge could read.

Current situation at Maracas Valley.

Trinidad and Tobago remains under an Adverse Weather Alert Yellow Level. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service had advised that people do not wade or drive through flood waters. People are also asked to secure loose outdoor items and livestock and to monitor weather conditions and official updates.
