Plenty flooding in South and Central but tides are low and rain is not "pouring" so all should be well by this afternoon when high tide kicks in (unless rain continues to fall).

Went into work today in PoS for some stuff. Back home now, didn't want to get catch in anything nah.
At 8am Dry River was pretty empty and when leaving PoS just now it's coming up.

In addition to the typical swiss army knife, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, rain coats, spare inflatable mattress, a camping tent, flash lights, plethora of batteries, ice box, pre-packed luggage with spare clothes, first aid kit, air horn, cutlass, tall boots, bottled water and canned foods etc. we need to add dinghy to our list of emergency/survival gear as well as life jackets and maybe a flair gun.

Yup passed through about 8 inches of fast moving water in the stretch between the roundabout in caroni and Econo. Wasn't a nice feeling at all but I didn't have a choice...

To me that was more than 1ft of water around 5:30am. I wasn't so brave. I end up turning back.

You might be right cuz I passed there about 5:15 this morning. Dude in front me with a b12 realised too late and stalled in the water. I passed with a 4x2 ole model l200, no electronics to worry bout lol

Drove from Arima to Caroni to Couva to Cumuto to San Rafael this morning and one thing I noticed is that the water was not moving even with low tide. Lots of those small drains which run below some of the "back roads" were either clogged with bush or debris making runoff from fields etc harder also. We may not see normalcy til weekend

That is stress - it's high tide now and coming back down for low tide at 8:30pm but the tide is not expected to be that low.
Added to that it's currently having thundershowers on the east-west corridor

Indeed the last thing needed was more flood waters to add to the madness

Flash flooding in Tunapuna, St. Augustine, El Dorado, Piarco

What would we do if we get a good solid rainfall over several hours?

So much flooding from a "little bit " of rain.

flash flooding and riverine flooding are two diff things though
flash flooding usually runs off quickly within few hours

riverine flooding due to saturated ground, wrong tide timing and a prior rainfall few days before is where u end up with places that don’t usually flood, flooding badly and water not going anywhere like in 2018
