TT Weather Center showing Caroni Village get hit rel bad. Water knee height and rising with the high tide now at 910pm. Caroni River water inside people house, all the regular vehicles would be destroyed with what I see in those videos. People in flat houses might have to flee to high ground in an hour.

Damn authorities need to get down there with some flatbed trucks right now now!

so no attempt was made to resuscitate, perform CPR? u just find someone unresponsive and declare them dead? have them lying there waiting for the DMO which is what usually happens when u could be doing CPR on them?

cpr has a pretty abysmal success rate... is not like in the movies. ..

not to say don't try but... don't be surprised if/when people don't magically come back to life

also don't be afraid to break people's ribs... because chest compressions do that... but broken ribs is better than dead, but yea probably dead anyway so don't be afraid to pump hard

I don't recall anything about broken ribs being mentioned in our training.

Most people are of the impression they could end up in hot water of they try to save someone and fail so they are reluctant to do so.

In most instances prevention is better than cure. If people had sense they would have known to avoid situations that could put them in harm's way but from what I seeing out here people are brain dead.

How the old saying goes "god protects fools and little children".

CPR doesn't save anybody unless they get to a hospital right away, it's just to attempt to keep blood circulating until an ambulance reach. My last update session, they say don't even do rescue breaths anymore, just pump. If the lungs are filled with water from drowning there is no oxygen exchange going on anyway, just what is left in the circulating blood. You pass out within 10 seconds once your lungs fill with water and brain damage occurs from about 2 minutes, 4 minutes it's irreversible coma damage and total brain death in 10 minutes. We live in Trinidad where the ambulance reaching in less than 10 minutes to give oxygen and start pumping?

Yes the chest compressions can break the sternum or a rib or cause internal bleeding, that's better than not getting blood to the brain. After 10 minutes..... how long you plan to do CPR for? They found the man in the seat hours later when the Fire Service pulled out the van and the DMO declared him dead. Wham u think he was Aqua Man undercover or something?

Some allyuh watch too much Baywatch on TTT Wednesday nights and think it's real life.

ok, but did they even do the pumping? being rescued hours later doesn't necessarily mean he drowned and was unconscious for the same amt of time. u cud be in shoulder high water for hours and have just enough air for the first 2 hrs, then it eventually goes above u before u are rescued but in time to be resuscitated.

just like in that Greenvale flood where ppl were trapped for hours but if they had even a pocket of air to breathe from they could have been able to breathe.

i just concerned that first responders would be too quick to assume someone is totally dead and not at least try.

first responders supposed to be trained to do those things- not like the general public who not trained so that should fear that they would be blamed.

u know bodies have been known to lie on the ground for hours in this country before a DMO even reach right? of course he would be dead after such a long time with no intervention. but the question is is there a chance he have been saved if first responders tried to revive him as soon as he was rescued? the article doesn't say how long that had to wait for the DMO to arrive before he was pronounced dead.
