The D'Abadie Bridge is now compromised, Member of Parliament for D'Abadie/ O'Meara Lisa Morris-Julian has confirmed.
Speaking to Guardian Media this afternoon Morris-Julian said a team from her constituency office went to the bridge located along the Eastern Main Road to verify the situation following reports that the bridge was collapsing.
Morris-Julian said officers from the Malabar Police station visited the site to ensure motorists were able to safely manoeuvre the roadway.
She said the Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan, the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Faris Al-Rawi, as well as Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales were all informed of the situation.
The bridge straddles both Morris-Julian's constituency and Gonzales' Lopinot/ Bon Air West constituency.
