Anodizing Locally?

Postby Victory_Specification » December 3rd, 2019, 8:06 pm

Did a search online, found a place in debe (Anotrin) But assuming they're out of business since their phones went unaswered. Any idea of any places? Looking to anodize a laryngoscope. Thanks!

I know there is a guy that does ceramic or powder coating somewhere on Sutton street if I not mistaken.

Edit: here he is.

Powder coating isn't something you want on medical equipment, particularly invasive medical equipment that going down somebody throat.

op, out of curiosity, why anodize that? I mean, for as far as aesthetics go patients may see it as more clinically acceptable if it were simply highly polished.
Besides, those things generally made from stainless steel, and anodizing yields best results with aluminium. Not saying that it can't be done, but why do it to begin with?

nonono. If your medical equipment is rusting then it's time to purchase a new one. It has reached the end of it's life, or has been compromised due to being mistreated from being stored or used badly. You're talking about an invasive medical device, not car rims. Do the correct thing.

If he's looking at anodizing it's because it rusting, it's because these things develop rust and stains, even when used & cleaned properly. It's the nature of metal. even if you wipe dry and soak in cleaning solution and put it in an autoclave, rust will develop.

Like I said, in this case, the correct thing would be to polish, clean, & sterilize.
You never know what patient wil see that anodized & have a problem with it.

Not rusting but do have stains/discolouration despite the above. New sets can be ridiculously expensive and special blades may only come used. Was looking at anodizing as an option as it would have remained autoclave compatible. May go down the polishing route instead.

Thanks for your input.
