The problem with NEL and NGL moreseo than other stocks is the prices invariably goes down on the ex-dividend date, then only begin moving again near dividend announcements.

I used to chase dividends in the earlies, but quickly realised that strategy was spinning top in mud. I've been doing OK over the last few years (pre and post-pandemic) by focusing on forward PE ratios. This is why I'm so gung ho on PHL now and why I was screaming to the hills about AGL not too long ago.

PariaMan wrote:BEEN telling you guys about Nel for the longest while

Hope u guys took advantage. Jump has now occurred after dividend increase

Lots of easy money in local Stock Market once you read the signs

The next big one is NGL

Jump in now

Price fluctuations occur during the day

Bid just above the best bid after the market opens and you should get thru

There gonna be a nice increase during this quarter

Well I bought NGL at 19 price has peaked at over 23 . I am doing extremely well. The price did not go down much with last dividend

I bough NEL at 3.25 it's now 3.60

Again price did not go down much at last dividends as they are spread out thru out the year

NEL was just selling for 3.27 it's now 3.61

Even if you just bought and sell you will have made a handsome profit

The thing about NEL and NGL right now is that dividend is high as well as the company is also performing very well

But I am with you on AGL I bought at 44 in November it's now 50

But ngl and nel with energy prices high is a must in any portfolio atm

The gains that I have made with NGL allow me to speculate in other shares while still staying in the Black overall

Fellars NGL results will be coming out Around April 1ST. Their dividend will be declared then. Its their major dividend . Expect a price rise at that time

Buy now and watch your money grow

Make a bid just higher that the best bid and you will get thru

Around 21.51

It's almost a sure thing once you willing to hold on for a couple of months

Do not wait until too close to April first to buy!

It can't be all done online. There are forms to fill out and sign etc.

It would be similar to opening a new bank account.

You'll need job letter, proof of address etc.

For sums $50,000 and over, you'll need to complete a source of funds doc. Its all very tiresome TBH, but once you’re set up, it smooth sailing.

All brokers will have the same procedure. If you bank with Republic, it would probably be more efficient to use their brokerage service.

FCB, RBC, JMMB also have their own brokerages.
There are also independent brokerages. Here is the list of registered brokers: https://www.stockex.co.tt/equity_brokers/

As a beginner you should really use a broker that would advise you on how to navigate the market. JMMB, Wise or Bourse are good options if you need guidance.

Be aware that investing in stocks is a long-term endeavour. Don’t expect big gains in a short period. Its a get-rich-slow scenario. Buy good companies, hold for a few years.

Good luck!

A acquaintance mentioned that Jamaica's NCBFG might be gearing up to buy RBC Trinidad.

Anyone heard anything on this?

CIF seems to have been a nice opportunity down to the end

Got at 27 per share

At .1964 of 138 per republic bank share means that the value of the republic bank shares I will receive is almost equal to the money I put out

The bonds will therefore be the profit of close to 10 percent. Which I can sell or keep as it comes with a 4.5 percent interest

I will probably sell it

Been saying this was a solid investment for years...
Been buying them up as a low as 19$ per unit.

BTW dont forget the "cherry on top" a small cash payment
From resdiual cash from last RFHL div payment.

Big question will investors dump there new RFHL shares to lock in their gains and therefore put short term downward price preasure.

I feel people who ended up with CIF shares had money to invest in shares anyway

Also Republic as a company has been doing well

It's share price and dividends has also been performing well

Therefore no real reason to sell the shares

The bonds can be sold for some cash returns.

Still saying NGL and NEL are good picks

NGL results and dividend announcements are still about 2 months away

NGL is on sale right now.

Buy as much as you can and thank me in April

NEL scarcely dipped after dividend payout . Basically free money

Both should continue to do well for at least the first half of the year

I just find sometimes it takes a while for the market in Trinidad to respond to news .

However dividend announcements seems to result in a quicker response.

Fast money is what we looking for

Once Republic price holds that would have been a quick 10 percent profit with not much money going in fees

That may lead to some growth in NCBFG

I sold what I had

The no dividend policy seems to have been suppressing the share price

NEL and AGL on a roll.
FCI finally showing us its true worth with nice increase plus US dollar dividend.

Fellars hope you had picked the winners from November you would be sitting pretty now

NGL's turn will be soon

Watch and see!

A disadvantage of dollar-cost averaging is that the market tends to go up over time. This means that if you invest a lump sum earlier, it is likely to do better than smaller amounts invested over a period of time. The lump sum will provide a better return over the long run as a result of the market's rising tendency.

Their findings showed that around 67% of the time, someone who invests a lump sum gained higher returns in their first year than someone who followed dollar-cost averaging and drip-fed their investment over the course of the year

From the internet

Right now lump sum in

AGl
Ngl
AHL
FCI

Also add NFM

Prices of flour has increased.Price of Wheat has dropped.
Last quarter result which are always the best will soon be out

You can also wait for the next batch of earning reports and choose only winners going forward

By winners look for more than 20% growth

If you're a long-term investor, dollar cost averaging is standard practice.

"Group Performance
The Group’s performance for the quarter declined primarily as a result of events in our life, health, and pension (LHP) insurance segment, in particular the effects of a one-off actuarial adjustment. Operating income of $29.6 billion declined by $4.4 billion or 13%, predominantly resulting from a reduction in net revenues from insurance activities. This was partially
offset by operating expenses declining by 3% due in part to our cost optimisation initiatives"

From the results .

Seems there was a one off actuarial adjustment

I had some but jumped off at 4.55 in a losing position

Bought back AGL and NFM with the proceeds

Increases in AGL,FCI and NEL keeping me in the Black.

NGL holding me back a bit but with the big dividend coming up in March or April I holding on. Still in front with an average buying price of 19 though
