BEST CAR FOR FIRST TIME OWNERS

Postby teffy » March 30th, 2019, 8:04 pm

Good Afternoon tuners, I'm in need of some advice on buying my first car. I'm a young guy recently left school and started working and I'm finally in a position where i can afford to buy a cheap used car. My price range is 50-60k.
What's the best choice for a car in that range? I don't know much about cars, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Used 2010 or 2011 Toyota Corolla Axio. Trinicarsforsale.com should give you some options. Look for a PD series. Buy it, service it and you good to go.

Search the forums some more to find out the caveats on buying a used car. Some men does want to run certified copy scam and thing so make sure all that checked out before money pass.

What you care about OP?
Resale value?
Maintenance costs?
Fuel consumption?
Parkability/findability (theft magnet?)

Can't have 'em all.

A 5-8 year old suzuki swift is a pretty decent car that fits your budget and is relatively cheap to own, good on gas, not a theft magnet, but has a shitty resale value.

I'm looking for something that is reliable more than anything and has decent fuel economy as i would be primarily using it for school and work.

Hello Teffy, you’ve come to the right place.

I recommend a Toyota Corolla. Now you may get bamboozled by the Nissan pests here with the Tiidas, Almeras and family....ignore them as you’re not a bandit.

Congratulations on your achievement.

Do not buy an axio if the owner does not have the service history, you just may end up with a car with a dead transmission in short time. Buy a wingroad or tiida, parts dog cheap and available all over

Buy an Aqua. It’s small enough for you to get comfortable on the roads.

This. Almost all other brands are more expensive and some , difficult to find. Tiida , Y12, Note, March parts are available all over. Buy something from this decade. The older you go, the more iffy the maintenance history.

Find a single 60+ year old owner car and you golden. Dem old folks don't mix matters.

Brakes for days, stiff but comfortable suspension. Flingin round corner like norms.

If it's the 1.6L 3zzfe you in a gear. Throttle response decent if maintained properly.

Ain't no gtr but it could still put a smile on your face with some good tires. I guess the trunk big enough for hauling groceries too I guess

If you buy a Tiida or any other cheap cheap nissan crap just know that you’re making yourself a target for a holdup at gun point or someone will try to take your car for parts, those vehicles are owned by the lowest and most stupidest people in Trinidad.... who can’t afford parts except from stolen cars....

Also recommend a Corolla or even a Yaris for reliability

Nissan cars are vastly inferior to Toyota when it comes to suspension bushings and shock mounts(esp tiida).
Ask any machine shop.

This is true. A working car better than none or a park up one.
