If you take the time to understand W. Edward Deeming, kaizen and The Toyota Method, you will start to understand why Asian OEMs have such high quality.

Well not just Asian, but specifically Toyota. Impressed with BMW's rise to the top.

Article page didn't load but this sounding like a North american take. Lexus branding ranking in North America since d 90s when they gave euro luxury stiff competition even biggy smalls rapped about them. Toyotas not that reliable anymore but still above most other brands mass production and outsourcing parts.
Audi infinity above bm and Merc okay then. Don't know if it's southern sales incompetent servicing but bm and Merc definitely more reliable than Audi and kia in TT at least and infinity ranking that high, higher than Honda even though infiniti is luxury Nissan it's still a Nissan and Nissan and reliability well no need to elaborate.

Mostly US subscribers are respondents to the CR auto owner's reliability questionnaire. Most of the vehicles referenced, even German and Japanese, are NA manufactured.

How Does CR Get Its Reliability Information?

Where Is the Data From?
Consumer Reports obtains its reliability data from an Auto Questionnaire that is sent to members of CR.org and Consumer Reports magazine. In all, we received responses on over 470,000 vehicles in our latest survey, detailing 2000 to 2018, and some early introduced 2019 models.

HINO Trucks is also Toyota right?

I never understood why Toyota uses HINO branding instead of their own Toyota branding.

Imagine a man want to argue with me about Lexus and I telling the man that Lexus is Toyota.

they acquired Hino .. and kept the brand name as it was recognised and established as a commercial truck.
same applies to lexus … premium / luxury line (brand)..

Nissan does tend to have a lot of issues with their coil packs. You generally see a lot of Nissan shutting down all over Trinidad, but also keep in mind there is a huge amount of Nissan all over Trinidad aswell which would also explain why you would see so many shutting down.

But it is well established that Nissan makes cheaper vehicles which is one of its key selling points, the beauty of Nissan is their parts cheap and easy to get anywhere and their cars are also made simpler so any mango tree mechanic can fix a Nissan at a fraction of the cost of a specialist. Where as Honda owners does have to go and find a Honda Specific Mechanic.

For example look how long the Y12 Wingroad is being manufactured, same with AD wagon, so their maintenance is much cheaper than a Toyota especially since Y12 and AD parts is EVERYWHERE since Nissan has been making it for so long. So the idea that Audi is more reliable than Nissan isn't far fetched.

Lower reliability has never affected any Nissan owner because lower maintenance cost and Mango Tree mechanic outweighs any benefit they will have from more reliable vehicles.

Mercedes Trucks run on Diesel and well Diesel don't use coil packs, spark plugs or brain box it just runs on compression. It literally is the simplest Engine ever made which is why it so reliable regardless of the brand.

Be minded that Trinidad don’t get top quality vehicles. Example a local Pathfinder in Trinidad is of lower quality of one assembled in the US. People don’t judge the brands based on the vehicles in Trinidad. One Toyota Trinidad best vehicle is the Prado; Trinidad would never see top Toyota vehicles such as the Tundra and Surf assembled locally

That is because Mercedes and the other European brands are relatively cheap to acquire and service in Europe.

Agree with Toyota as #1 though. Nissan has gone down a lot since their partnership with Renault IMHO.

And you know this how exactly? Massy Motors buys second and third grade vehicles and sells them in Trinidad at premium prices?
