I heard a Met Office employee on Tony and Dale this morning. The man sounded like a true dunce.

Imagine, a Met employee did not even know that Elsa was upgraded to a hurricane. He was asking them where they got that information from. He said that no plane went into the storm to determine if it was a hurricane.

When they were finished, Tony said that was the most awkward interview he ever did. Dale agreed.

And Dale and Tony have been around for donkey donkey years and interviewed many, many people.

it was actually the Director of Met Services. watch from 2:34:20. they stated that elsa became a hurricane and d man say nah, i doh agree with dat. and that the system will deteriorate. questioning why NHC hasn't sent a plane into it and he 'vex about dat'

Director of Met Services ?????? Nah. No one could be so dunce in such an "esteemed" (according to Tony - LOL) position.

Thanks for the link. That was one wild train wreck of an interview. Man sounded like he just got up or he was high on something.

Best line "The system does not have any moisture source. Therefore I am not seeing that system surviving any further."

Let him go and tell that to the people of Barbados and Grenada.

What did he study? rocks?

Somebody was giving me scores about the MET office the other day by coincidence. They said the Director only hiring one set of young gyal and tackling all of them. They dont really do any real weather forecasting but just take already processed information and repackage it. Also they want to sue the Trinidad Weater Center man cause he doing a better job than them... not sure how accurate the info was but this incident gives it some credence.

he correct tho... the system did deteriorate. the aircraft didn't go in because it didn't need to go because it was clear it would deteriorate.

the director could use some interview skills but he was correct where it matters.

prolly deteriorate above us, cuase i wasnt seeing the storm coming to us, but there was sufficient hot seas to increase it, not enough sheers to chop it. so it would organize and head up more north. we would get the rain from the feeder bands, hence my rain prediction for the night.
yes, it would ahve fizzled out if headed to us, but it got energy and moved WITH that. so it increased... jsut not by us.

right now, i coudl barely hear fuss rain buss down.

Despite our MET Services Director saying Elsa will not develop further and will break up due to it having no moisture source AccuWeather says Elsa looks like it will increase in intensity to Category 2 by Sunday

Seeing that a very large albeit disorganized system just left Africa. Not sure if it will develop (by my powers of deduction from Form V Geography, I suspect it will) but it's a big one.

Actually it was ground measurements in Barbados that led them to declare it a hurricane.

This was issued at 7:45am yesterday.

"Surface observations from Barbados indicate that Elsa's maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph, and the cyclone is now a hurricane. A special advisory will be issued within the hour in place of the normal intermediate advisory.

* The Meteorological Service of Barbados has issued Hurricane Warning for Barbados, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines.
* The Meteorological Service of St. Lucia has issued a Hurricane Warning for St. Lucia.

The Meteorological Service of Barbados reported a sustained wind of 74 mph and a gust to 86 mph. "
