The only ting that was problematic was the bullet payment to the Malcom jones wgtl loan.
If they could have paid that then kept the refinery running for one year, it would have been available to accept guyana crude...
And would be the best decision ever.
most ah d ppl in trinidad supported d shutdown and still do.
logic doh apply here dan.
Lots of people were envious because of not getting to work there as well, that coupled with the PNM propoganda machine and lack of counteraction by the union made the whole of T&T despise Petrotrin workers
There was sheit going on there in terms of corruption, mismanagement and low productivity. People were before the courts. LFD RFD PNM decided on a one paragraph opinion, from the same lawyer who advised them that they had a case that they didn't have a case. Tight Shirt withdraws the case. Said lawyer is now totally discredited and a criminal, but still being used for political aims by the LFD RFD PNM, with the meddling of the former AG (again!).
That said, NOT A SINGLE ONE of the 74 million dollars worth of reports made any recommendation of shuttering the refinery, so it seems that it was profitable for someone in the LFD RFD PNM to shutter it at that time. Further evidence of the arsery is the sham "sale" of the refinery that has been dragging on now for years. Meanwhile with Venezuela's reopening of their oil/gas the crude seems destined for their own refineries, which, in spite of their being 100 times worse off than us, they never sold, shut down or otherwise facked away.
Way to go LFD RFD PNM!
Way to go JUHN Scarfy!
Way to go Guy Smiley!
Way to go OWTU!
Way to go AV!

LFD RFD PNM wanted this and voted for this and support closure.
so a huge loss to the avg trini if it never restarts.
Does this contradict what Ramnarine was saying, since the niquan/wgtl plant was in a much worse state than the rest of the refinery. Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to eat up soundbites and clickbait before proper analysis.sMASH wrote:Bonx up a former coworker today working niquan now, he call some names that get hired to commission Niquan... You answered my question, yes it is possible with the right people and funding to get the refinery going again. The problem is the government cannot be trusted to make the correct decision in the best interest of the country. Once again it boils down to a purely political decision, while workers suffering outside.sMASH wrote:wing wrote:Does this contradict what Ramnarine was saying, since the niquan/wgtl plant was in a much worse state than the rest of the refinery. no. the plant itself IS rubbish, little more than scrap iron. the difference is, the men that get hired to commission it now, is top notch and will sort it in no time flat. what ever have to change, whatever have to fix they will figure it out. i only knew a few names he called, but overall is men that whole life portfolios is commissioning plants and doing TAR's, local and foreign

Doubtful, you cannot polish a turd, so if the plant has fundamental issues or design flaws, the best commissioning team in the world cannot sort that out.
