Just found this out when I asked how he’s not at work today. He was my friend, a guy that would look out for me and stayed extra hours just to keep us company when we did work by his place of employment…

It’s so numb these days with the killings I didn’t even notice the name and newspaper article that was him.

Three Charged with Larceny of TSTT Cables

Three men were arrested and charged by officers of the Southern Division early yesterday morning, after they were caught red-handed, stealing a quantity of cable, which is the property of the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago, in the Ste. Madeline district.

Officers were on patrol around 3:45am, on Wednesday 26th January, 2022, when on reaching the Ste. Madeline Grounds, they observed a man standing on a ladder with a yellow hacksaw cutting a black cable attached to a wooden pole. The ladder was being held by another man, while a third man was standing nearby with a pair of bolt cutters in his hands.

The officers approached the men and informed them that the cables were being illegally obtained.

The men were arrested and personnel from TSTT were contacted. The cable was identified as being 38 meters of 400 Pair TSTT Aerial Copper Cable.

The men, ANTHONY SCOTT, 68, RICHARD RAMBHAJAN, 55 and SHERWIN SWAN, 25, all of the Ste. Madeleine district, were subsequently charged with larceny of fixtures, by PC Boodram, on Wednesday 27th January, 2022.

The accused are expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today, to answer to the charges.

Cpl Rampersad and PC Bedassie assisted in investigations.

Couple Charged with $67,800 ABM Fraud

A Piparo couple was granted bail with a surety when they appeared before Justice of the Peace, Boodlal Balkaran, on Wednesday 26th January 2022, charged with fraudulent use of an ABM card.

The accused, VISHNU BANAN, 30, of Pascal Road, Piparo, was granted $75,000 bail after he was charged with thirty-four counts of fraudulent use of an ABM card, in sums totaling $62,800. AMELIA BANAN, 23, of the same address, was granted $50,000 bail after she was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of an ABM card in sums totaling $5,000. The two accused are expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Tuesday 22nd February 2022.

According to police reports, in January 2020, joint holders of a bank account reported discovering a discrepancy when they checked the balance on their account. After receiving information from their bank, it was discovered that during the period October 31st, 2019, and January 10th, 2020, a quantity of cash was allegedly withdrawn from the account by use of an ABM card. The holders of the account did not conduct such transactions, nor did they authorize anyone to do the same.

W/Cpl (Ag.) Kissoonsingh of the Southern Division Fraud Squad conducted investigations into the matter, and as a result, AMELIA and VISHNU BANAN were arrested and charged with the offences on Wednesday 26th January, 2022.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Arlet Groome, Supt. Rueben and supervised by Insp. Bachoo, Sgt. Seepersad and included Cpl (Ag.) Mohammed and PC Jemmet of the Fraud Squad - South Office.

How they get the pin for the card?

How they withdraw 60K from an atm without the bank locking the account?

I withdraw 10K and I had to go through a Jason Bourne type interview to prove my identity to unlock the account.

Facebook ad for TV ends in robbery

Citizens are again being reminded to exercise caution with sales that are organised via social media platforms.

They are urged to either conduct sales in an open area, near a police station, or even at the police station in a specific jurisdiction, to ensure their safety.

This comes after a 41-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint in San Juan on Tuesday afternoon after arranging to purchase a TV that was listed for sale on Facebook.

The victim told police that at about 3 p.m., he arranged to meet with a man unknown to him at Calvary Hill, San Juan, to purchase a 65-inch Samsung television for $3,500.

However, upon arriving at the agreed-upon location, he was confronted by two men.

One of the men pulled a gun and announced a hold-up.

They then relieved the victim of his cash, as well as his cellular phone and other items of value.

The suspects then ordered the victim to turn around and walk out of the area.

The suspect complied with the instructions and was not harmed.

Upon reaching a safe distance away he raised an alarm and was taken to the police.
