Times,

Look at the laws of today that govern us. Criminals know the laws better than us and use it to their advantage. Police simply take Criminals before the courts. I honestly believe they should have a straight corn approach like Rovin mentioned a while back save the taxpayers millions of dollars per year less work for the police and lawyers and judges. Then again human rights and UN would intervene but they blinded to the crime wave we presently in.

*Man killed in Wrightson Road shootout identified*

The man killed in a shootout with police outside the University of Trinidad and Tobago on Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, on Monday has been identified as 23-year-old Dane St Rose, of Pinto Road, Arima.

He was accused of robbing and kidnapping a 39-year-old PH taxi driver near Skallywag Bay in Chaguaramas. However, when intercepted by police along Wrightson Road, officers said he crashed the vehicle and then shot at them as he tried to escape.

CCTV footage showed St Rose running with the sound of gunshots in the background before he fell to the ground.

He was later taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations are continuing.

*Three ambulances destroyed in arson attack*

Three ambulances were destroyed yesterday during an arson attack at Aid Allies Medical Limited, which shares a compound with Alexandra MRI Limited in Port-of-Spain.

The incident occurred around 12.30 am and was carried out by an assailant who emerged from a grey Nissan Note vehicle.

Employees who were able to view CCTV footage of the incident said the vehicle bore false licence plates which were the same as an employee.

The employees said a man exited the vehicle from the passenger side and then immediately smashed the windows of one of the ambulances.

The man then poured a flammable liquid inside and used a lighter to start the fire. He then did it two more times to the other ambulances on site. On one occasion the flames even blew back in his face.

Guardian Media was unable to speak to the owner of the business but was told that 12 employees, including emergency medical technicians and drivers, were directly affected by the loss of the vehicles.

A release from Aid Allies Medical Limited yesterday said the destruction of the ambulances will disrupt services for the next three months. However, it said non-emergency services will continue. The release added that no one was injured in the incident.

Wow

I would like to commend the TTPS on their excessive and necessary force used on those 2 pests who were pestering the event and attempting to steal the cars of our fellow patrons.

This is the approach needed.

It’s seeing footage as these make me build and regain my trust, faith and confidence in the TTPS.

agreed, kudos not to the cop who put the last kick, but the one who just before body slammed the idiot.

what ppl dont realise is that crowd policing requires necessary force such that all the other bystander pests will not be encouraged to jump in.

these cops along with the wrightson road shootout ones show that ttps does have cops who are trained to handle situations.

Pretty much all of these events are jam naked. There is absolutely nothing classy about carnival. It is a gross exhibition of ghetto behavior that hood rats believe that the rest of us should claim as our culture. They could keep it.Carnival was,is and always will be the main hindrance to progress in this country.Carnival activities start back, petty thefts, purse snatchings and burglary going to increase.Mark my words.

Drag queen jewelry store bandit in Penal

Three men walked into a jewelry store in Penal, not far from the Penal Police Station, and walked out with $17,000 in gold.

One of the men was dressed in women’s clothing.

The incident occurred along the busy Penal Rock Road at around 2pm on Friday.

Police said the men entered Sona's Jewelry Store and asked to see a gold chain.

A sales clerk, the report stated, took out a tray containing gold chains and placed in on the counter.

Police said the man in the dress and wig attempted to smash a glass case filled with gold, but failed.

He then grabbed the tray of gold chains and ran out of the store.

The other two men followed.

Police said the value of the gold was estimated at $17,000.

By the time police arrived at the scene the men were gone.

Six masked robbers executed a hit on the compound of Massy Wood in Debe on Sunday morning, robbing and tying up three security guards before stealing cables and a car.

The robbery occurred shortly after 2 am at the company’s quarters at Dwarika Avenue, off Suchit Trace, Debe.

Investigators said Curtis Villafana, 58 of Point Fortin, Gary Yarde, 24, of Debe and Nigel Lewis, 47 of Couva were on duty when the six thieves entered the compound.

Armed with a Glock pistol and a cutlass, the thieves accosted Villafana, first relieving him of a Samsung A02 cellphone valued at $1,500 and undisclosed cash.

Yard was relieved of his Amalgamated uniform, boots and a black iPhone and $3,000 in cash, while Lewis, the supervisor, was robbed of $8,000 in cash, a bulletproof vest and a silver AD wagon registered PDM 8987.

The thieves then fled. However, the wagon they stole could not start as the kill switch kicked in, so the thieves had to leave the vehicle.

The security officers managed to untie themselves and called for backup.

When police arrived they checked the compound and found 900 core cables missing. The value of the cables has not been released by the police.

Investigators said the robbery was well planned and the thieves might have been monitoring the compound before pulling off the theft.

They gained entry to the compound by cutting open a fence on the northern side of the compound. The entire compound is monitored by CCTV cameras and investigators say it is only a matter of time before they make arrests.

PC Hamilton of the San Fernando Police is continuing investigations.

MEDIA RELEASE

Illegal Firearm Transfer- FUL, Firearms, Ammo Seized, Businessman and Driver Charged

One Firearm User’s License, 27 assorted firearms and 800 rounds of assorted ammunition were seized and two men arrested, during an intelligence-led anti-crime operation, conducted in the Southern Division between Friday 24th June, 2022 and Tuesday 28th June, 2022, related to an alleged illegal firearm transfer.

DAMIAN LAING, a 43-year-old businessman of Mayaro and also of Block 2, Palmiste, San Fernando, who was charged with transferring firearm and ammunition is scheduled to appear at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court today.

Meanwhile, BRIAN LENDOR, a 26-year-old driver of Mayaro who was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and resisting arrest, appeared at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court yesterday. Lendor pleaded guilty to the charges, was denied bail and remains in custody. The matter was postponed to July 20th, 2022.

According to police reports, on Friday 24th June, 2022, the Southern Division Operation and Intelligence Unit, along with members of the Southern Division Task Force, proceeded to a restaurant located at South Park, San Fernando, where extensive surveillance was paid to patrons at the said establishment. A male patron was arrested and subsequently charged for being in possession of a Smith and Wesson bodyguard .380 pistol and seven rounds of .380 ammunition. The 26-year-old driver is not the holder of a Firearm User’s License or a Firearm User’s (Employee Certificate).

As a result of that arrest, a meticulous and coordinated investigation was led by Insp. Phillip and Sgt. Wilkinson of the Southern Division Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into the ownership of the aforementioned firearm and ammunition. This resulted in the arrest of a second suspect, Damian Laing, who was subsequently charged by Sgt. Wilkinson for the offence of transferring the said firearm and ammunition to Brian Lendor, his driver.

Further investigations resulted in the FUL and quantities of assorted firearms and assorted ammunition being found and seized at the home of a relative of one of the accused.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Winchester, ASP Jaikaran and Insp. Phillip and supervised by Sgt. Williams and Sgt. Wilkinson and executed by officers of the Southern Division Operations and Intelligence Unit.

WHY WAS A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR FAMILY CAUGHT WITH 27 FIREARMS???

Director of Laing Sandblasting & Painting Co. Ltd. and Equipment Rentals DAMIAN LAING along with his driver/friend Brian Lendor were both arrested at a pub in South Park Mall located in San Fernando for gun related charges.

Laing claimed he wanted to use the restroom so he gave Lendor his Smith and Wesson bodyguard .380 pistol and seven rounds of .380 ammunition to keep while he went to use said restroom. Both men did not know they were under surveillance the Southern Division Operation and Intelligence Unit, along with members of the Southern Division Task Force.

Both Laing and Lendor were arrested, futher investigations would take the police to another of the Laing family member where one Firearm User’s License, 27 assorted firearms and 800 rounds of assorted ammunition were seized. Investigators would also find it strange that while Laing and Lendor were in custody two high ranking police officers would each make calls to the station where the men were held and demand the they be released.

Investigators are also trying to figure out why would the Laing family need so much firearms as their security detail can provide that for them. In 2017 Gregory Laing who is the owner of puff n stuff bakery in San Fernando was kidnapped, after a ransom was paid he was released. Investigations into these matters are still ongoing, police are still trying to find out more about the guns seized at the business man's home.

43 yr old Damian Laing of Mayaro and also of Block 2, Palmiste, San Fernando appeared in the San Fernando court today charged with transferring firearm and ammunition.
