I gave my mechanic one of those for xmas last year
He's currently restoring one
TBH I don't like those with opening doors because the shut-lines are not to scale and they look odd somehow
Cool when I was a kid, but as an adult, I rather appreciate the overall design with fine panel lines, rather than those big door gaps

Hi guys, are there anyone you all can recommend to fix a maisto 1:24 scale car? The car is nothing special but it was given as a gift to me exactly 21 years ago so there is sentimental value attached. Unfortunately the rear r/s wheel broke off completely due to a fall. Thanks in advance.

Cant the Maisto models be disassembled? I think they carry screws on the under carriage. You might be able to take it apart and glue the wheel back on to the axle. I remember with the 1/18 I used to take them apart and remove the coil springs to lower the car. :D

Good suggestion bro but unfortunately this one does not have a rear axle. Each rear wheel is connected to a small rotating bushing which is then connected to the underbody. The part that is connected to the underbody is what broke and the tiny rotating bushing has been displaced. It's very small and it fell on carpet so unfortunately I know that's a needle in a haystack thing.

I probably will have to melt some plastic and reattach the wheel but it would be fixed. The car would be relegated to a shelf item only never to be played with again. Oh well.

Post some pics. I've repaired a few models for other ppl. There's always work-arounds
Youtube is a great resource as well
Careful with melting plastic for a few reasons:
Toxic fumes
Weak joint
When you melt and re-join parts, the end result is often shorter than what you started with
Depending on the nature of the part, you can heat a piece of thin aluminium rod for example and use it to join pieces
Plastic weld expoxy is a versatile aid as well
You can make bushings with thin tubing or electrical wire insulation etc

I'll post a pic when I get some time yes. Today I report more sad news. A gifted L1011 Tristar model I had for years which came with a built-in stand met trouble. The stand was connected to the fuselage and my child broke it off completely.

I sticking on putting up some new purchases but my kid made me aware of something. I coulda swear the only plastic on Hot Wheels was the wheels, windscreen and interior but it's only recently I started buying them as toys for my son instead of packaged collectibles for myself.

The bottom of these things are plastic. Son opened another that was sitting in my collection since 2010 and it had a metal bottom, plus a open/shut bonnet.

Since when did this plastic bottom thing begin?

plastic is nothing new
been that way for years
'premium' lines occasionally come with metal bases

The plastic only irritating when they try to match the underside with the body colour. Anyways...
HW-Porsche 918.jpg

918 I got today

HW-67 Camaro.jpg

The 2010 Muscle Mania Camaro my son opened cause he wanted to play with the plastic bubble. I had no idea the bonnet could open. Packaging doesn't mention it at all.

Also got a Speedtail but the night lighting is casting a white strip on the bubble. I'll retake it during the daytime.
