Freight Co. parking containers stupidly & Illegally

Postby Ben_spanna » November 30th, 2017, 1:09 pm

A shipping company located on Sadhoo Trace in Elsocorro continues to park their containers over and over dangerously close to the corner of a major 4 way intersection.
This intersection is a very busy one on mornings and it forces all drivers to go onto the wrong wide of the road as they near the corner, the Stop sign cannot be seen properly, and it makes turning that corner extremely difficult for commuters.
Several reports have been made to them yet, they continue to park their trailers all along the roadway whilst THIER OWN YARD remains empty.

some business people in this country really do what they want without any regard for people, and that shipping company they are ECONOmic ! yeah right!

Yup, and Kaleidoscope too lil before. It does be a real pain! I see one or two empty lots around. I am sure they can pay a lil rent and park their trailers there.

Has always been an issue on that side. Saturday, on Carlos St., Woodbrook the 20' container was left almost in the middle of the lane.

El Socorro South is the worse for road parking of containers. That corner especially bad with them and the furniture factory.

Usually because the road surface is slanted they park like this unfortunately.

Each time it is done, the police should issue the fine, may it be obstruction, danger to motorist or whatever is applicable. Doing business and generating revenue for the country does not mean that you are given a concession to break the law and negatively impact others.

it is not always the fault of the importer though,
many times containers are released at odd times for one reason or another

eg in the past it was the norm for them to be released after working hours ie overtime
the shipping line is also responsible for collecting the empty container and returning it to the port
naturally the drivers try to squeeze in as many as possible so given time and geographic constraints anything is possible esp with cost cutting measures by transport companies with limited trucks

if you ever notice the caroni bird sanctuary car park is a common place where they retrieve from a customer and
leave temproarily then move from there to the port

containers should have some means of alerting drivers eg a light of some sort

Right on this topic I saw a man almost die this week as a result of this.
A big backup in Pasea where 3 ton truck couldn't pass in the room the container truck left on the road. He took several minutes after blocking both ways when a man then came to help him avoid slipping into the drain which he was about to. He then almost lost it rolling back into the drain where the man was standing (he should not have been there albeit). This was on the corner of Stratham lodge south side where the doubles vendor is. Imagine a 40ft container truck park up on that narrow road. When people saw what almost happened they just turned around one time.

The problem will always be who will pay the fine. If the container is on the road then it has already been offloaded and it's the trucker's fault for leaving it there.

Some places were never designated for business i.e. residential vs commercial but in sweet TnT things have spiraled out of control. If a business does not have the necessary yard space for parking, off loading goods etc. the fault falls upon the owners/management of that business. If a place cannot give you proper or adequate park, do not support them...simple. I do that.

The trailer belongs to the trucking company, the container is on the trailer but the trailer is what is duly registered so I would say the ultimate responsibility lies with the tucking company and not the receiver.

NOPE- they open the container right there sometimes and their forklift goes onto the roadway.
They DO HAVE space on their compound, they just prefer to inconvenience the Public and have their our space free.

take a little stone and put it on the insect on the tire both inside and out side tires on the side closest to the wall and within 1 hr that container will be on the wall and the company will have to pay a crane to remove it , and they should learn a lesson .....

^ That road leads onto Don Miguel Road Extension. There's a company that packs containers with local goods like Peardrax, Solo, Paints, Pepper sauces etc and exports it on that road. A few years ago they parked their container on the roadway and it caused the road to slide into the drain causing the Container to fall into the drain too. Always felt like that was natural justice.

In this country it pays to just do the wrong thing until told not to. With the container/trailer there they don't have to open up for the truck to remove it, whenever the trucking company is ready they will come for it.
