Sea freight service

Postby richardxsingh » August 27th, 2017, 8:22 pm

Anyone uses a sea freight service like bluesky http://www.shipbluesky.com/ as opposed to a skybox/air? What others are available? I am looking for a service that does it all just like a typical skybox would.

I use PAScargo on a regular basis and find them very reliable. They do both air and ocean. Plus when my shipment arrives, it's close to home for collection.

But is that a service where you get an address and they do all the work plus delivery?

I've used SeaBox, my only issues were the online updates didn't update besides the initial reciept, delivery was missed because they attempted to deliver without notifying me of the attempt or the invoice prior and I never got the insurance I requested in advance. Otherwise things worked out, saved a lot of money compared to air freight and luckily didn't need the insurance.

On another note, websource also does ocean freight.

Initially, I agree that the service left a lot to be desired. But my last few transactions with Blue Sky Shipping were not so bad.

Seabox recently raised their prices to 2.25/lb.

Also, did they always have this higher first pound charge?

Nope it started off as $1.75 USD/lb for 0-200 lbs iirc.

With the exception of the delivery issues, ^these problems seem to be pretty standard with SeaBox, in addition to their constant delays, adding at least a week to your waiting time. Still, once I'm not in a rush for my items, SeaBox is my courier of choice for now..prices are decent and hey, you get to duck the OPT..

seabox charges $25 admin fee which
for small packages brings the cost up a little to close to if you had the 7% tax

By now they might have already slapped on the peak season charge. So add that to their list of fees.

I use Caribbean Shipping Agencies/Xpress Freight

Once your stuff reaches on or before Wednesday it will ship out and be ready to collect the following Friday assuming no hurricane. You will have to clear yourself, however much cheaper than any delivery service. I think they have brokerage now as well.

Full notifications and pictures of your received stuff in Miami, boats are trackable on your own and website to track status of container. Consolidation too.
