Installation recommendations on lighting fixture

Postby 2311 » June 24th, 2017, 11:42 am

Hello tuners I got a westinhouse 3 In one light wall fixture but according to the instructions in the booklet a can needs to be embedded into the wall but my home still uses surface type wiring. One guy at work told me cut the fixture to allow the incoming power wire then drill holes into the wall use wall plugs and screw it down, but judging from the size of the screws and the weight of the item which is about 5LBS when the glass covering is fully installed, wouldn't be sturdy in my book. My question is whats the best way to install this, an can you link me with someone who can do it.

ROFL .. More like Velcro and a Weave .

You can use blue wall plugs and 3" screws - Rawl Plugs ( not Raul Plugs ) will also work .

You can swing and even hang yourself with rawl plugs - very strong - known as an anchoring system .

Then you have to run the wires on the side since you seem to be placing it in a place where there is no
in-wall electrical box.

Just as you ran the electrical wires to your light switch .

An electrician will charge you about $150 to $200 to install . Or tell him to ground it - or you will become the ground.

You can use a "pancake" electrical box. They are available in 1/2" deep or more. You should be able to find one at an electric supply store (Modern, infinity, Anand's, etc.).

A "pancake" electrical Box ?

Hmm .. How will this work ?

The electrical wire not coming from the inner concrete wall .

It is surface mount .

The pancake sounds like a better idea too because u have space to run the surface mount wire neatly
You need it installed, where you from?
Pm me.

I'm not sure if you will find one but I forgot to mention that you could also try a "wiremold" box.
