not really
As Number34 mentioned, more women work in retail & service jobs, & those sectors feeling a squeeze for quite some time now. But that's not all.
Plenty businesses actually gravitate to dismissing female workers over their male counterparts for a variety of reasons. One reason being that males are generally willing to do more & don't make additional duties a problem. For example.
If there's a water cooler that needs the bottle replaced and you have a male & female worker both approximately the same size and in the same position and making the same salary, you go see hell trying to get that female worker to replace that water bottle. "I can't do that" "It too heavy" "Dat is for a man to do" will be some of the excuses you would get.
Yet that same female for December will tote a 50 pounds of shopping bags up & down the length & breadth of Frederick street
males are a bit more versatile, they can do the same small detail work the female can do as well as the heavy lifting
