Granite/Marble tools and materials

Postby jackal » January 23rd, 2017, 6:28 am

Where can I find a supplier of stone cutting tools and materials.

4" & 5" diamond cutting pads
Bullnose cutters (1.5")
Ogee cutter and other stone type of bits for 4"/5" grinders.
and compound for gluing and sticking granite and marble together.

I remember seeing the cutting pads in Allied late year.
Can't speak for much else.

Sir,

I used a normal tile cutting disc (4") water cooled and I bought the drill cup at allied (for installing the taps). Don't know how to fabricate the bull nose, the granite i bought had them already.

There are videos on youtube for your assistance.

I did my countertops, vanities and bedroom dressers myself using basic tools. To make the bullnose on the island and cut outs for the face basins and kitchen sinks,I used a hand grinder, a circular saw with a tile blade and some other tools. To join and fill ,fibreglass resin with tints are used. Came out very professional though. The tops came with bullnose so it was only the island and one side on two pieces had to be done.tomorrow evening i'll be hometo take a pic of the cut you need to make for an L shaped counter.

Nice, would like to see the pictures.

I want to do some ogee pattern. And the edges will no t be straight, it would have some arches and other stuff on it.

I have all the grinders, but considering to buy a wet grinder for doing the edges.

Where you get the tints?

you make this sound easy, let's not forget your accustomed to similar kind of work with sanding/shaping lol
it surely is not rocket science but one would need to be careful before spoiling a nice piece of counter

op dont forget a good dust mask

Good advice, but once you set up a small hose with water dripping all the time, there is no dust. Jackal, Marc one has all the tints for the resin, and you just colour it until you get a colour between the background and the highlights. It almost is invisible.
The piece of bullnose I did, I used one strip of mat with the resin and it bonded better. The important thing to do is to use a fence (guide) when you cutting because you want it to be perfectly straight for when it butts the factory edge.
One word of advice, measure ten times ,cut once. Also when you cut out the hole for the sink, be very careful when lifting, what I did was to cut on a piece of plywood and then transport it to the kitchen on that.

I know where Marc One is, that up Chagaramas (not sure of spellings).

Bough some fiberglass many years ago, had the cheapest prices back then and the guy was very helpful.

No so much.

Want to do some contrasting type stuff.

Teak center table with the marble tops, under mirror tables, some of my floors are solid teak and others are laminate ones.

I think that it will give my place a bit of elegance.
