Kamla ejected from Parliament after Speaker denies approval to debate motion on missing women, murders

Speaker of the House of Representatives, has ejected Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar from the House after Persad-Bissessar failed to get approval to debate a motion on missing people and murders.

SEE VIDEO BELOW

The entire Opposition bench then walked out.

Persad-Bissessar had sought to debate the issue as a matter of urgent public importance.

However, the Speaker told Persad-Bissessar that it did not qualify under that Standing Order and suggested it be brought under another Standing Order.

However, Persad-Bissessar protested, leading to her suspension.

Ok so S_2NR what would you do to stop crime. I is very easy to criticize from the outside looking in. It is very easy to to say what others should do ,so I ask what would you do. Don't get me wrong I am not for one or the other political party. Who so ever is in power life still has to go on we still will be pay way to much tax on things. In my opinion it is not just up to government agencies to fight crime. From simple as speeding to ppl wanting backhand to do the job they are paid to do we as a ppl tolerate to much sheit which leads to more sheit that leads to the decay of morality in our society.
If police step up there presence with out the proper training that they lack we all would be treated like criminals. There comes a time when we all have to think what can I do to help I am not saying that you have to go and be a vigilante but report the little things that you see going wrong. From the idiotic ppl who drive on the right lane not even doing the limit and don't cair for whosoever is behind them to the dumb ass cutting in and out like a mad man all of us have ether ah Bluetooth headset or ah bess deck with Bluetooth call 999 and report that driver as i do. If you see ppl selling drugs in your nabor hood the man who steeling supplies from work to sell yes you go get a good deal but all that leads to the problem that we are having in the country. Go back to the old days were children were though to respect others and there property. Even the government we sometimes have to stand up together and do petitions for tax on things to be lowered or better police patrols what ever happened to community police that you use to se driving around the community late at night. All I am trying to say ppl it's not just up to the government to stop crime. The speaker was just doing her job and making sure that the rules of the house is followed. If you have a case going on and the prosecutor enter some evidence in an incorrect way and the judge let it in you would say you get a raw deal. Then another way to look at it kamla might have used the wrong motion on purpose to make a scene and to get the general population to say that the speaker working for the other side. All political figures sometimes do things to suite there own agenda and not what's best for the country

There's not much that can be done about serious crime. Sweet T&T iza major transshipment point on the North South coca trade. Drugs come in and go out. Money and guns come in and stay. No amount of CG vessels...airplanes...blimps or radar can stop thiz. Thats the unfortunate reality.

Any experienced honest politician knows thiz...but they wont state it publically cuz its political suicide. Admitting thiz will also take away hope from people who need hope for the future.

But there iz something that can be done about general lawlessness in sweet T&T. The prisons...courts and TTPS need to be updated. But there iz a lack of political will to do so.

Other things need fixing. Like hospitals...for eg. in-spite of the medial cartel of T&T.

Why thiz iz iza mixture of lackadaisicalness...ineptitude...and tunnel mentality and the realization that the risk in trying to fix these things iz not worth it. It may not get a political party re-elected.

Sigh. Many don't get it. Whether she's grandstanding or not the fact is she raised an urgent issue that this government flat out refuses to address.

She raised an IMPORTANT issue, that they had met in private to discuss already, and that format they could have come up with better solutions than the orderly, Regulated, limited speeches that the parliament forum would have afforded.

If they had bills to pass with with new laws or amendments that would be geared towards fighting crime, I might haVe understood the need to fast track it and make the fervent effort in parliament today.

But they would have achieved nothing worthwhile today discussing crime.
They could do so at another date or even hold an emergency parliament, when they are better prepared and ready to act... and have something to act on.
