WTK: Flooding in Chin Chin Road

Postby Trinislacker » July 15th, 2016, 11:21 am

Looking to purchase a property in Chin Chin heard on the news that the area is having flooding issues. Going to take a drive up again today to see what I can observe but would like to hear some feedback from anyone who has information on this. Much appreciated.

Chin Chin Road is a long road. There are parts that flood with slight rainfall and there are parts that do not flood at all. Maybe if you be a little more specific on the area of Chin Chin you are concerned about, then I and others can help.

Not as we are seeing now, remember PNM holding back money to clean drains and water ways from UNC areas.

Had worse flooding within the past couple years in the Caroni area than there was yesterday/today.

maybe if everyone stopped throwing their garbage outside rather than in garbage bags like they supposed to this would be less of an issue...even in much poorer & less educated countries they have seen this as being an issue. when I was in Thailand last year people would take their own plastic plates and cutlery with them when they went for food rather than use the Styrofoam/polystyrene plates that they are usually served on...maybe the nasty caura & DDI cruise people will follow suite one day.

When drainage was built, it anticipated runoff and peak flow with the given conditions at the time. Development constantly leads to the reduction of permeable ground with the added problems of the slope of the northern range and development there. It's not surprising with the trends of rainfall spells of higher intensity.

That whole area very undulating , some places high some very low, bound to have water catchment somewhere
Drainage not really developed since it was recently bush, no real govt drainage except by drains near the roads and existing little rivers
Developers backfill extensively to only make it worse for who lower down
