Some of the road improvement projects that we have identified for immediate implementation include the following:
the Wallerfield to Manzanilla Highway, which includes a ring road round Sangre Grande
the Curepe Interchange
the Valencia to Toco Freeway
upgrade of the Moruga Road
completion of the Pt Fortin Highway
the San Fernando to Princes Town Highway
Most of these projects have the advantage that they have already been designed and are ready for the immediate invitation of tenders, while others are in an advanced stage of preparation. Indeed, projects such as the Wallerfield to Manzanilla Highway and the Princes Town Highway have been ready for construction since as far back as 2010.
wish they also had an additional flyover in Chaguanas to ease up the traffic on Endeavor/ Pricesmart. One at Marchin/Jerningham Jnct to Pierre Rd perhaps. Those are two fairly major roads.eliteauto wrote:ok found itSome of the road improvement projects that we have identified for immediate implementation include the following:

Hinds says Point Fortin highway to continue
By Richardson Dhalai Wednesday, April 13 2016
ALTHOUGH Brazilian contractor, Construtora OAS, is expected to leave the Sir Solomon Hochoy highway extension to Point Fortin project by the end of May, Works and Transport Minister, Fitzgerald Hinds, has signalled government’s intention to complete the highway as part of its infrastructural development programme.
“We have said a thousand times that we intend to continue and to complete the San Fernando to Point Fortin Highway,” Hinds said, before noting that a number of other road projects were also being planned which included a freeway from San Fernando to Mayaro.
“We propose to develop a new road, a freeway between San Fernando and Mayaro,” he said, adding, “We propose as well the Wallerfield to Manzanilla Highway and I got the Cabinet to agree only recently to have one of the agencies come on board and we will begin that process.” Hinds was addressing the “Quality in construction” seminar at the Centre for Enterprise Development, Innovation Avenue, Freeport yesterday.
He said several other projects were also being developed to ease traffic congestion including a Valencia to Toco highway, a ring road around Chaguanas to avoid commuters going through the urban centre was well as the development of a ferry port at Toco.
Hinds also defended the fiscal measures contained within the mid-year review which was presented by Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, last Friday saying government had no choice but to implement these measures “little by little” to avoid harsher measures in the future.
“A number of the things that the Minister of Finance had to prescribe and to direct to us, given the responsibility he has are unpopular, a government doesn’t want to impose taxes, a government doesn’t want to remove the fuel subsidy, a government doesn’t want to impose action on its citizens because doing so makes you unpopular,” Hinds said.

I see they get a massive junk of land at the side of the highway between mondesir and grant trace too.

Isn't the biggest holdback for any continuation of the CRH to Sangre Grande is the alignment of any potential route falls within or very close to the Aripo Savanah Environmentally Sensitive Area??
