Port Forwarding, DNS, Port Configuration

Postby shfraser » February 26th, 2016, 11:02 pm

Hi All, Digicel Tech.

Can you tell me how I can change the default DNS on my Digicel Play Modem, the Huawei HG8245Q.
Some tell me it can't be done, include some in the Digicel call center, but others say it can be changed. Basically, I want to continue using OpenDNS.

Ditto for port forwarding. This is an important feature for me. However, I am told that it's been disabled on the modem.

The service is solid but these niggling issues are irritating. And port forwarding is going to be a show stopper for many.

Can you disable the router and use it with your own router?
Just use it as a modem only.

Anything new on this? I am trying to use unblock us dns but the field to enter it in is greyed out.

I then decided to disable dhcp on the modem and use another router I had to do dhcp and dns. That worked fine but whenever I did that the iptv from the set top box stoped working until I enabled dhcp on the modem again.

Anyone can help me with this or have a way around?

When you disable dhcp u have to give the set top box a static ip also. Did you do this?
