Having done engineering doesn't make you an Engineer..... you need to have a job to call yourself that.

a buddy of mine left his job in IT in 2004 to pursue his dream of becoming a commercial pilot....he started flying to tobago and now flies to miami with CAL....another buddy got his license a few years back, and has been unable to land a job with any airline.....he's now back in school doing a degree while hoping to get the call....timing is critical, I guess

A pilot is nothing more than a taxi driver driving a b14 with wings. It is no longer a respected profession, poor salaries and no growth. At age 21 I was earning more than the average CAL pilot as an Extra Heavy-T trailer driver.

So what if its a glorified bus driver jobs. The man says he always wanted to be a pilot , some ppl have passions and are happy doing that.
Its not always about making the money , its doing what you like.

Who cares what it pays ??? That is d man dream ...ppl talking here when they themselves are slaves to jobs they have no interest in ...soley monetary gain ...that why ..for example , employees in hospitals , police service and other customer related duties are at the lowest in Trinidad ! The jobs is not their dream or suits their character , it only pays their bills. End result , they do it poorly

No one puts passion above money. That's a myth. Quit lying to yourselves.
I've never seen a Taxi Driver respected for being a master in their field....same goes for a Pilot.

OP don't take on these negative ppl on here. Follow your passion bro.

I guess these tuners want a pilot that's hates his job.

Run some info on the trailer driver work. Similarly frustrated as OP. Keep thinking driving truck for a living would be an improvement in job satisfaction.

i went to Briko to do PPL , not the best school to start with , Cessna172 AC are old and very out dated , and always have some kinda problem .

https://www.facebook.com/AerialWorldServicesLtd

try ^^ they dont have any Cessna AC but they have the DA40 diamond aircraft , which is a newer up to date AC with glass cockpit , very easy to fly

go in for a test flight it will cost about $2200 u get a tour of the AC and a Round trip of Trinidad so u can feel out the AC and know what your getting into ....

You'd spend close to a million ttd to get your license. Then you'd catch your tail to get a job.
Schools that I know of are in Daytona, Embry riddle, dean's and ATP.
You'd first get your private pilot license (ppl) then advance to commercial pilot license (cpl) and if hired you'd have to go get type rated for the plane with which you'll have to fly.
Local airlines don't pay that well so alot of the ex bwia pilots I know that are certified on the airbus a340 have gone to dubai and advanced to the a380 at Emirates, who pay very well.

I don't really understand what you on about. I don't know you, you don't know me. Close your browser if you are butthurt.

Looking at ATP to do a worldwide commercial license @60k USD. Then acquire green card and get job on one of the many north American Airlines. Jobs with Cal scarce from what I hear.
Briko doesn't impress me.

I just want a sit down with someone who is in it so I get no surprises and I know what to expect.

OP I can relate to how you feel. I too wanted to leave my profession to become a pilot. But with scant research I found out becoming a pilot is jumping out of the pan and into the fire. You will spend thousands of dollars (no GATE) to get the PPL and CPL and then scrunt like a dog for job, spent much of your salary paying back the loan for the job, and then spend the rest of your life flying mundane routes hoping your eyesight doesnt go because you will be fired.

Is best you hold strain a lil longer and wait for your engineering train to come in.

Check out this series to get a feel of landing a job

I know someone who left a high paying position to become a pilot. The man says even though the pay is lower, he prefers it over his pervious career.

Better to follow your passion than be a slave

its not as easy as u stated eh bro .... to get hired u need about 750 hrs + for a first officer job on a ATR etc not a JET

when u finish your CPL u would have about 250 hrs mayb wher u gettin the nex 500 hrs ? best you do your CFI one time and instruct and make up the HRS for free .... an d wel get a small salary ...
locally its a beyotch to get a Job with CAL , u have to know someone ....

as i said before call aerial speak to some of the instructors they wil guide you

S_2NR wrote:Briko doesn't impress me.

i could give you stories that will make u wonder if its even a flight school ....
