I think they were planning to put a traffic light there. All those lines they painted just created confusion in that section of road.

I also don't recall any "stop sign" for cars traveling in the direction the red car was headed

There's no stop sign for cars travelling in the direction the red car was headed. Seems like the Porsche was travelling in the opposite direction and turning onto the Link Road. I drove past there this week, and in true Trini style, drivers turning onto the Link Road are proceeding in a right of way fashion, across the path of incoming vehicles.

yup. cars including porsches making the right turn onto the link road supposed to wait at the line.

it really is a beautiful road design that cut down on traffic significantly, but ppl still getting used to it and the intersection could legitimately use better signage

ppl was real beating up about having to go through the roundabout too but the 90% reduction in traffic worth it

The beatup on fb was epic, glad to hear that the change making a difference. One problem with many Trinis is that they rather cause an accident/block up a road instead of giving way for a few seconds

courtesy is always a problem
which is why multi stop intersections always have problems here

Look again. There is a stop line, but no sign in the red car's direction.

i never noticed a stop line in the red car direction (continuing straight across in the same lane). what would be the protocol in that situation. who would yield to whom.

donno why the taking so long with the signage.

Usually stop and yield to the one who reached first. It takes road courtesy and good faith for these kind of intersections. We hardly have that in the majority of Trinidad drivers who don't even have the courtesy to turn on their lights when it's raining so other drivers can see them.

the problem is the person behind a driver who reached first often thinks they can go ahead as well seeing the car in front went ahead
this is where the lack of courtesty happens and bacchanal starts

it is not a bad system for lowish traffic(less than roundabout) volumes
in europe they have variations where pedestrians and cyclists have priority

Trinidadians and Courtesy don't usually go together.

Yuh might say that but most humans fear consequences rather than are generally courteous or nice people.

Abroad they fear the almost guaranteed fines and demerit points when they breach traffic regulations.

When trinis go abroad they follow all the rules and regulations of the road.

Watch how everyone rushing inspection and transfers now....because of the guaranteed consequences.

There is a traffic light at the stop line you're referring to. So the red car has the right of way to proceed.

Expecting courtesy from the same people that don't know how a roundabout works no thanks every morning I have to pass a roundabout omw to work and ppl always rushing and willing to take a "chance" knowing fully well they would be in the wrong if an accident were to occur.

Unless that traffic light went up today, you are mistaken.

This is the intersection by Sky View and LaFast, not Kenson.

Some places in Trinidad are mapped out in Google Street View.
Image date says Nov 2021.

They built a triangle island and painted lines all within the last month. The imagery is out of date.
